Climbing Method for a new Saddle Hunter

I love my Lone Wolf Hand Climber! Extremely safe because you need be in yor tether to climb, every simple, weighs only four pounds, it's your climbing system and platform.
Some people don't like them, I don't know why, perhaps some can chime in?
I plan to try a LWHC next year, pending something I'm working on right now. Really wasn't aware of it until recently and too late into the year to change now.

The one negative I see is that you are introducing slack into your tether, which is generally agreed on as something that should be avoided. However, plenty of people climb with just a linesman belt, which depending on who you ask, may or may not even catch you in the event of a fall.

Well one reason why I assume is because the hand climber is much like a regular climber. There can't be limbs on the tree. I am interested to see a system much like the one stick climb. Have a paracord the length of your leg tied to it and have it clipped on your saddle incase you drop it when removing the belt so you can skip a limb. I'd double up on the safety here and have a 30 foot rope as your tether with the excess rolled up in your backpack or a pouch so you can rappel down if need be.

I climb some trees that are too big and others that are too small for the hand climber that I had. I really liked the comfy seat, though!

As a newbie I’m not sure how you use a climbing Treestand in conjunction with a saddle. Please elaborate!

They take the top platform (the seat part) of a lone wolf climber and use it to climb the tree. You simply sit down in your saddle, use your legs to pull the climber up, stand up and slid your tether up the tree. Check YouTube for saddle with hand climber.

Thank you! Makes sense now! Appreciate the YouTube reference too!

Whatever method you decide on, get good at it and consider how to make it as safe as you can. For example a long lineman’s hanging down below you is bad. If you’re using a climber ensure it’s never going to drop away. Reading some safety threads this year has been helpful for me... falls don’t happen often, but they do happen - there are good ways to prevent them and get corrected more easily if something goes wrong.

I like you have been trying to find the best climbing method. This year alone I have purchased wild edge steps and a knaider, all the stuff to do srt and have tried drt. Unfortunately I lack the strength to do either of the rope climbing methods. I will be trying them again because honestly drt seems like the best way to go. All in all, I went back to my muddy sticks. I'll probably be selling my wild edge steps soon. They are just too small imo for both my boots to be on.
I have the 10 step WEI setup with a aider and yea the WEI steps are a challenge to get both feet on one. I have size 14 boots and find if I want both feet on a step I have to use the heals. Not ideal but when you are fiddling with the next step it what you have to do.

I like the WEI steps because they are small but the fiddle factor and really not comfortable putting them up in the dark is making me consider some other options. I'll be keeping my WEI steps because they are nice once setup but want something I can sneak into an area and setup and take down with minimal noise/effort.

I'm aiming to get 4 to 6 beasts sticks my this time next year. I hunt private so weight isn't a super huge deal for me. I like to get high during winter and because of extra clothing like to have my steps a little bit closer
