Climbing Spurs

Do you climb with your feet at a different angle with those or what? I've only used my Klein's that look like @phatkaw but with leather pads

With the Bashlin’s you don’t climb with your feet at a different angle, the more aggressive curve of the gaf as it leaves the climber is supposed to help keep the spur entrance at a proper anatomical angle so that you don’t have to kick in at an exact angle every time but still give enough holding power to lower your risk of kicking out. I have heard some guys on here who love them but the only true experienced climber (former arborist) who said he loved them also said it took some getting used to but that the cushioned pads were amazing and he could hang all day with them on. I personally couldn’t get used to it but I’m a 30 degree hips out knees locked toes pointed to the sky every time kind of guy. I can’t really explain it but after having straight angle gafs for all these years, I couldn’t get used to the Bashlin’s of course I only tried some for a few hours and that was enough for me lol

Georgia is a no go on what?

Someone from a previous post had I for stating that GA was not allowed to use screw in steps or climbing spurs. I have spent that last half hour looking over the regulations and I cannot find a single rule stating that you cannot so I stand corrected, apparently there is no rule against screw in steps or climbing spikes in Ga on public land

I’ll scanned over them for years and never found anything either.

No offense, but you must need more practice...

None taken. I hunted with them solely for 3 seasons several times a week. I was just listing some things I didn’t like that happened to me over the years. I’m still bitter about hooking my new $400 bibs when I decided to walk to the next tree over lol.

Here are some pros:

Probably the fastest way up a tree.
Fairly easy to climb huge trees

Which climbing spurs do you recommend?
What’s your wallet look like
If you’re trying to stay under $350 or so better shoot for the steel Klein or Buckinghams…
You wanna spend a little more go for the aluminum ones. If you got a big boy bank account  they make some amazing ones for $1200 that weight like under 2 lbs a piece

They sound like a lot of fun. Around $400 sounds ok for just giving them a try.

$1200?...which ones are those?

@Pilk64 Which spurs are you using? I'm mid 50's in age if that matters. I like the single stick method, but these look like the perfect solution.
I can use them where I hunt, so that is not an issue.

I have a pair of aluminum climb rights...awesome pair and they weigh around 4.5 lbs...I have a set of kiwi carbons that weigh 2.25 lbs...both are awesome for climbing...

Did you have to mod them in any way (buckles, velcro, etc..)?
