Climbing sticks as a platform???

I plan to use this for one stick method and platform. I’m testing at ground level for now to see if I need another strap to prevent any kick outs. So far no issues and I feel it will be comfortable enough for 4-6 hour hunts.
I will know more in the next few weeks of practice and working on my setup.

Keep us posted Treehopper2. I've got the same platform for my new hawk heliums but at present I've got a leg wound healing and can't do anything other than look at the box of heliums&platform.

Will do .
Like I said earlier I’m working at ground level for now to test it as a platform. I’ve already been working on the one stick method with the muddy stick and that works far better than expected.
Until I hunt out of it this fall I won’t know if it truly works or not.
AGAIN If you try this method practice at ground level and confirm your individual setup is stable before you climb 20’ up a tree.

I thought for sure u would need a secondary strap at the top. But found that’s not the case, very stable alone. My weight is distributed b/w platform & other steps but I could hunt of just that if I really wanted to. I don’t mind the extra bit of weight to gain mobility & comfort at hunting height.....

So far it seems very stable for me also. If I have to apply another strap it’s no big deal climbing method and platform weighing in at 3.5 lbs.

I know you said your practicing at ground level but have you tried moving the stick once yet? Just curious if the slightly larger top makes it a little harder to reach the rope and pull the stick up for a move.

I have not moved the stick up yet was just confirming how stable the stick/platform would be first. After work today I plan to confirm the new platform doesn’t effect the climb up the tree. I don’t think it will be and issue.

Well I went and climbed with this setup. It didn’t change the climbing with one stick at all if anything it’s easier now because since I use no aider I use the top of stick to stand on while resetting tether.

I will say this about one stick climbing when you reset your tether be sure to not get your fingers between the tree and tether while moving it up or down the tree . Just in case your stick fails or slips. That wouldn’t be good. Hasn’t happened to me yet but I see the potential.
I’m still learning with each climb and feel I’m getting better. It takes practice and to be honest it’s not as easy as climbing 4 sticks but to me I hate packing those 4 steps in way more .
I feel safe being tethered in from ground level and I try to minimize slack as I walk up the stick.

Did another practice sit today with the
muddy stick / platform and I’m impressed on how it handles side load. I have no issues using the side of the platform to push off to pivot around the tree 360 degrees.
I feel so far from testing this may be my go to method for climbing and platform this coming season.
Time will tell if it truly works for hunting for me.

How do you feel like the small platform will handle longer sits? I just ordered one for my muddy pros. I have a predator platform, but just trying to make my setup as easy to use as possible. Thanks.

I hunted for a full season using the top of a Muddy Pro and a couple screw in steps to shoot around the tree. It's not the most comfortable but it works. I wouldn't hesitate to use the top of my stick if I wanted to go ultra light on an evening bed hunt where I pretty much know where my shot location will be.

It also depends on the type of saddle you are using. If you are using a minimalist saddle you need more of a platform for longer sits. I use a JX3 Hybrid saddle and the fork keeps my weight off of the tree so I can get by with just the stick.

I would like to make something like this, a DIY version. Its hard to search for it on here. Has anyone made something similar that you guys know of? Trying not to spend $65 as I did just buy the predator. I'm thinking for my shorter hunts I wont use the predator.

I’ve got an order in for one of the Helium top step mini platforms. I’ve got my sticks attached with 7/64” daisy chained Amsteel. Anyone else have similar setup and have experience with how well it handles side pressure? Or did you need to add another strap or cleat?

while I don't have this type of platform setup, I did 2 hunts last weekend using Beast Sticks, and an ROS of squirrel steps. I found that I used the top of my beast stick for most of the 2 sit's. I was pretty comfortable. they where 3-4 hr sits. I was also using a "Wraptor" saddle. So, a platform like this would be pretty decent if you are not doing an all day sit. Though, I would bet it wouldn't be to bad.

Has anyone placed the artisan platform on the bottom step of their stick? I think I would like it on the bottom step, if it could be installed there, and have a pad hanging from the step above to lean against. I also think this would be nice for one sticking.

Just for ideas.
