Just when ya think ya know a guy……
Hahaha. Like I said, subject to change…weekly.
I think I’m a serial tinkerer. I can’t leave well enough alone.
Just when ya think ya know a guy……
I tried.
I m not a fan of one stick,for me.
I really like my spikes and feel much more comfortable with them.
And just don’t care for sticks. So what do I do . Just find places where I can use my spikes. Or a climber - - ugh !
Anybody else have the same feelings ?
Maybe I’m just not following your logic, but when I look at that climbing harness it‘s a waist belt, two leg loops and a belay loop. If you look at any saddle, it’s a waist belt, two leg loops, a bridge (belay loop) with the additional capability of the lineman’s loops built in. For me one sticking is about weight reduction so wearing two when I only need one seems redundant.onesticking really shines with a climbing harness/belay loop for climbing/rappelling and a sit drag(or any saddle) worn outside the climbing rig for linemans belt and hunting tether. If you are trying to one stick with only a saddle and linesman loops, i can imagine the pain
a bridge for a saddle isnt a belay loop. a belay loop supports the leg loops so you are in a comfortable sitting position when hanging from a vertical position. lineman loops do not...you have to lean away from the tree to get comfortable.Maybe I’m just not following your logic, but when I look at that climbing harness it‘s a waist belt, two leg loops and a belay loop. i did the climbing harness with diy linesman loops for years before i found saddles. No way am i going back to that when my saddles are built With loops designed for climbing (hence the name…linesman loops). Use what you want, climb how you want, shoot what you want…its a great country huh?!a bridge for a saddle isnt a belay loop. a belay loop supports the leg loops so you are in a comfortable sitting position when hanging from a vertical position. lineman loops do not...you have to lean away from the tree to get comfortable.
Saddle leg loops arent really supported by any of the connection loops. theyre just there to catch you in the crotch if you fall
Ok, so when I zoom in on the harness I can see that and now fully understand your logic. I’ve seen a few folks talk about using this setup with a fleece saddle. For me climbing the tree is only 15 min of the 5 hour hunt so I’m not sure having two systems vs one would be worth the effort. But hey, that’s why there are so many options available now. Every option has it fans. Great time to be saddle hunting with so many options available to fit everyones preferences. its not really two two systems....kind of like saying your pants and belt are two systems.Ok, so when I zoom in on the harness I can see that and now fully understand your logic. 5 minutes, OMG-thats waaay too long. Just kidding!!! Who cares as long as you’re safe. Looks like a good system. Good lucjits not really two two systems....kind of like saying your pants and belt are two systems.
30 ft in a take your time five minutes
Same. I’ve always preferred spurs and now that I also repel… I love the method even more.
one sticking is noisy.
but it is legal everywhere so… I’ll probably add it next year
This is my first year trying one sticking. Today I tried using a linesman‘s belt the entire way up in addition to the climbing rope. That kept the slack out of the system and made it feel much more secure. The time it added was definitely worth itIt wasn’t the climbing that bothered me, it was the journeymen sitting in the truck just watching lol and then having to stay at height unbolting insulators or transformer brackets… Thank God for bucket trucks and boons! I don’t take a stance for or against one sticking but of the methods of climbing I have seen, it’s the one that introduces the most slack into your system making it more likely to hurt you IF a fall occurred. I think that’s what people mean when they say it’s dangerous. In an ideal world, equipment would never fail and then falls won’t occur. Unfortunately we don’t live in an ideal world. All climbing methods come with risks though
