I know you can’t kill hogs on LBL…which is crazy to me. If one comes by me within range it’ll be hard to not let one fly.

Had tons on camera last year

Wow! Can't kill them at all. They must love invasive species...even more than MS does. At least we can kill them in deer season.

They want you to report where you saw them and they’re supposed to have a trapping program for them… they claim if people start hunting them they’ll be harder to trap. Their trapping program obviously sucks…

I've just been looking at the TN regs and I haven't found any mention of hog hunting. Do you know if it is legal to hunt hogs on public land in TN with a bow outside of Deer season? It is not here in MS, unfortunately. It's fine on private here. That is the only thing I miss about that hunting lease. There were hogs and I could bow hunt year-round.

In Mississippi on private you can kill hogs all year round unless for some reason that changed that rule. You can even hunt them at night. Most clubs will not allow it though.

Yea who ever is over the LBL hog rules doesn’t know much about hogs. They multiply fast. In the delta he in Mississippi they have started killing them via helicopters. Between that and flooding the hogs got thinned some. Years back all you had to do was step in the woods and you was going to see hogs.

LBL is run as a TGO.
Typical Goverment Operation.
They would rather pay (with our money) someone to trap vr getting them taken out for free.

You’re officially not allowed to hunt them… but….. lol

I used to help farm in LBL and still talk almost weekly with the farmer on the north end. They currently have a single dedicated employee to hunt and trap the hogs and he kills a good number of them. Hundreds so far according to him. But he’s one man on 170,000 acres.
They also had a helicopter come in this spring and they shut everything down and shot for a week. Idk official numbers but the farmers tell me they’ve noticed an improvement. They’ve been able to plant fields this year that have been too infested with hogs to plant for the past two years.

Far from perfect but at least they’re trying.

I was supposed to go glassing at LBL last week but plans didn’t work out. A friend of mine went last year and killed a giant and seen small bucks and does nearly every sit. I’ve got 6 or 7 videos from a his week trip of deer passing through. It intrigues me but not as much as the bow only parts of West Virginia

Yeah, it's fine in MS on private land. They just give them free reign to multiply to their heart's content on public land. I hunted them hard when I was in that lease.

I was just over in LBL. UNIT 8. Drew the muzzleload hunt. A buddy and I turkey hunted there back in April. No hog sign and we scoured that zone looking for a bird. It is flat tore up with hogs now. Acorn crop is phenomenal. There was a bow quota hunt going on and saw only a couple trucks. I always heard LBL was hard hunted but it was a ghost town. Saw a few scrapes opened up and a few pencil rubs. 2 cams out, got doe pics first night nothing since. Saw one buck, 8pt probably 100 inches and 3 pretty ladies horseback riding.

I didn’t realize LBL had a muzzleloader hunt. I put in for the rifle quota but didn’t get drawn. LBL is kind of hit or miss. The deer numbers aren’t what they used to be.

I have heard the deer numbers are down. i never see many while I am turkey hunting. I do see a lot of buck sign though in the way of scrapes and rubs. the hunt I drew is Zone 8 Nov. 17-19. Definitely a Muzzleload hunt.

Due to the hardwoods steadily maturing and the lack of ground cover, I don’t see there ever being a high deer density in LBL. Definitely there will be pockets of higher numbers where you find thicker woods, but for the most part it’s low numbers. I would be very curious on how thick the woods are in the northern units where the tornado went through a couple years ago.

The “muzzleloader hunt” is still a part of the yearly gun quota hunt. Only the folks in unit 8 have to use a muzzleloader due to the proximity of the Wrangler Campground and horse back riders that frequent the trails.

The bow is open to public. There is no draw for bow on LBL.

LBL sucks. Mainly because the you toobers won’t keep their mouths shut about it. Keep pushing west and hit Missouri. Bigger deer and more of em.
