Deboning\Packing out in Louisiana

I spoke to A Federal Game Warden today about the regulations on the National Wildlife Refuges. Called them on the phone. He told me you can field dress an animal as long as you don't leave the carcass/remains next to a trail or road.

Agent's Name Was Pon Dixon. Spoke to him at 10:43 a.m. CDT on October 20, 2023. I specifically asked about Big Branch Marsh NWR, but he said that was standard on NWRs.
The NWR agents are, on the whole, on top of their **** and very nice. The guy I have run into at Bogue Chitto, Officer Mike Downie, has always thoroughly inspected my stuff.... but been very cordial and friendly. He also gave us heads up of issues with locals poaching, which is pretty helpful.

theres one WMA here i run into them ALL the time and thats the main one i need to pack em out lol. I literally get checked every single time im out there....but same, im by the books so he'd be a real prick to go that extra mile...
If that's the case, why don't you just ask the LEOs you're already running into how they see it?

[:headscratch:]

read the earlier posts...i do talk to them and each one has their own answer which added to the confusion but i finally got what i needed..I need the real answer thats backed up by the regulations, not their individual interpretations of it so that one gives me a ticket and the other doesnt.

I took it that you were talking to desk jockeys in Baton Rouge.

Still, if you're talking to that many wardens, you should get to know them and make sure they know you. And have the conversation with them when you get conflicting information.

deboned and packed out a doe today....and while it was certainly the best way to get her out by myself from where i was, it wasnt my favorite lol. hopefully more deer let me get some practice in...
