Diy metal-less climbing method

holding anyway... :expressionless:
A new climbing method or device doesn't exist and doesn't work until we SEE it in action.

I wasn't referring to anyone in particular. It's funny, when I searched Google for SRT site:saddlehunter.com, many posts popped up from 2016 by the longtimers here about this great new method they were going to try. I guess it was not too successful. I don't think they mentioned why.
Stirrup revised....the loops weren't staying open enough so sewed the ends in half and now it keeps its shape really well.

1 down 2 more to go... I may have been to ambitious saying I'd make 4. I have 4 new calluses from the speedy stitch
So how is it when climbing with it? Have you tried one sticking yet?

I don't know if you were asking me or not since you quoted me, but here goes. I tried one sticking two times and had no trouble doing it. It seemed kind of slow compared to SRT / RADS but you don't have to get a rope up the tree first.

One sticking just seems so much more practical than the srt just because of the mobility it offers! I can see srt if you were using presets but having to use a throw bag when run and gunning just seems like to much hassle and would probably be kinda noisy!! And I can totally see this way @Weldabeast is making being used for a kinda one sticking!!

Presets are where srt makes sense on public. Presets with bolts on private is even better.

I know where I tried SRT once it was great with a preset.
Faster and easier than one sticking which I used all year

I would drill and bolt then

Can't legally here in my state on public wma... only have 1 metal component (carabiner) is the main goal of all this. I want the soft shackle to work, and it does, but testing it around in the yard it can be frustrating to operate and decided against it. Weight will be low and no packing issues and no possible metal clank. All the arborist rope climbing methods are interesting but I've been using sticks and aider for 4 years now and I'm accustom to those motions and step distances...another plus is I got $40 in it

How do you move the aider up if you are standing on the stirrups attached to the same timber hitch. It seems to me like you need two separate timber hitches. How about a 2 foot stick permanently attached to the aider to move it higher up the tree than you could reach?

Do you down climb the opposite of the way you climbed? Rappeling seems much easier down but then you need all that metal equipment and extra rope.

?? Rope and stirrup are one unit....aider just shares the anchor loop until your weight is off aider and into stirrup....reach down unclip aider. Reach up and attach 2nd stirrup/rope combo. Clip aider into next anchor loop...repeat. picture page 2 shows
