Double Step Regrets?

I definitely prefer how single steps pack--packing sticks with double steps is a pain in the rear. Having said that, I have switched to double steps and will not likely go back.

I like the double steps especially for one sticking. I like the fact the EWO stick is rock solid with great stand off clearance. Folding steps on sticks make them longer and folding steps are never as solid IMO. So do you want longer sticks or wider sticks.

I don't have the EWO steps. Just some chopped API's with the straight steps that come on them. The angled steps would be preferable I think. One of those things that you'll never notice, but can only help. There are times on crooked trees that the slight angle would be nice, and the price difference to get the angled over the straight is negligible considering they'll be able to get into the woods long after you will. The only thing I would change about my sticks is the step angle

I had the Helium sticks and just got the Novix mini sticks. I'll see how I adjust to them but may add some double steps.

I have 4 LWs cut to 24". I added EWO doublestep angled to tops and bottoms. For me it was super tedious to hang the next stick on one foot balancing plus much easier to adjust LMB install platform or ROS standing stable. I use a webbing aider cinched to my foot using castration bands so I'm not looking for a loop in the dark the single step on top made it "impossible" to hook onto the next stick to ascend/descend without switching aider to the other foot.

My sticks weigh in at just under 29oz(1# 13oz)each with 1/4 amsteel mod. I could've saved more weight by leaving the single step on bottom but I like the ability to stand stable if need be. They are money well spent!
As far as angled or not is a personal preference with no huge benefit besides if you go up the tree in muddy boots which isn't smart for so many reasons..

@HunterBob my best advice is to at least change the top one you won't be sorry.

Do you get any movement with just one bolt holding the steps? I have some wobble and need to tighten. I wish they had a second hole for bolt.

They nest on the stick so no movement at all at least so far

I spent the money on DanO double steps for my lone wolfs and have never looked back. Money very well spent

I have 2 sets converted to double steps. One set with Dano angled double steps cut to 18 step distance these weight about 1 3/4 pounds each with daisy chain

And one set with the lightweight Dano double steps on the new lone wolf mini sticks 15.25 step distance and weigh 1.5 pounds with daisy chain, these are my newest set and will keep these

Love them both, I can't imagine a stick I would rather over these

I think what will help you is just having a double step on one stick and having that stick be the last one you put on the tree before your platform/ROS. This will allow you to comfortably stand on both feet leveled while your finish your setup.

I have 4 lonewolf sticks that I use and the last 2 sticks I put on the tree have a double step on top.
