Another great video by Velario024. Great to see how this Mammut Smart device works while being used for saddle hunting. No moving parts just works on the geometry of the device. I believe Mammut also sells a tab that mounts to the device to keep the rope draped over the nose.

It only restricts the rope coming from above, must be important when belaying, and maybe easy to mess up when first learning.
I use the 2.0 with twin 6mm cords, can be used alone, or a back up hitch above it.

Thanks for clearing that up. By the looks of the add on tab I thought it laid flat on top of the rope.

It’s spring loaded, maybe to keep the ropes together when not under tension, I was holding down on the rope and carabiner like it was loaded.

I've been practicing this this summer. Seen it on YouTube somewhere. I use my ropeman 1 to go up and take slack out when climbing sticks. Then use the prussic at hunting height. Then the figure 8 and prussic to rappell down. No need to lock it in to remove sticks, the prusic holds you. Then lightly pull down on prusic to descend.

I also use 550 cord to loop my rappell/tether rope around a branch. So it's a weird combo of SRT, multiple sticks, and rappell. I really like it and feel very safe the entire time, unlike when I just had a lineman belt on.

Ok I've read this whole thread 2x. Now my head is spinning. LOL I'm new to 1-sticking but not new to ropes, etc. I love the 1 sticking but I'm not too crazy about the madrock. Maybe it's just me but I can not find the "sweet spot" when repelling down. I'm either too fast or too jerky. I love the figure 8 with the soft/hard locks. But is there a way to use it to ascend the tree too without using a 2nd tether? I'm looking for the simplest and safest way to ascend and then repel down. Would love to see some pics/videos of your set ups.
