Full body harness with Saddle

It’s quite a challenge to get down with your back to the tree.

I don't get it. If I wanted to use a full body harness I would hut out of a treestand. I been at the saddle hunting game for a very longtime and when you're tethered in I don't see how you could fall. I do carry a Treestand wingman in an extra pouch in case a stick kicks out or something happens where I need to get down without climbing.

I dont understand the objective here…

You are afraid of the hitch slipping so you want to use a full body harness and saddle?

That sounds crazy.

If you are that afraid just double up tethers and/or bridges?

or

Dare I say it? Learn to trust your equipment!

The hitch slipping is only one possibility. I just used that as an example. The whole point of using a harness is added safety. I'd rather be attached at my upper body than at my waist. I really don't see why that concept is so hard to grasp but I'm done with this. Take the 550 cord and clothes line and have fun.

I think the thing that most are having a hard time understanding is what the benefit is. The only scenario where the HSS shock absorbing lanyard will have any benefit is in a total failure of your bridge. Any other scenario your bridge and saddle will be the thing that arrests the fall. I would think having another strap coming over your shoulder (near your neck) would be significantly more likely to injure you than help you in the event of a fall. If you are just looking for a way to stay upright during a fall I would look into a fall rated chest harness and pair it with your saddle.

@wingnut this is just a thought but what about using a back band? If a fall occurs I think with a back band it would keep you upright so the back breaker scenario doesn't happen. This could just me thinking out loud and not helping though. Please don't get discouraged with us, I personally think that's a lot to have on in a tree, especially in winter with the extra layer of clothes.
