  • We've been working hard the past few weeks to come up with some big changes to our vendor policies to meet the changing needs of our community. Please see the new vendor rules here: Vendor Access Area Rules

FYI: Wood Hunting Saddles Closing Up Shop

I hope everything is okay, or will be soon.

Robert has helped a lot of folks out here in many ways.

A while back, I honestly considered buying another saddle from him and looking up how to store such items long term! (was thinking vacuum sealing with dessicant packs and then storing in the dark)

The thought of shutting down this caliber saddle from being made over selling the company or passing it on to another saddle builder is something I can't quite get my head around.

Hey guys, I’m not sure as a vendor rep what I can and cannot say. I’ll simply leave it like this. The decision to shut down was not a financial one. We were plenty healthy in that regard. This decision stems from a very personal family matter and me needing to shift my focus toward something that is very dear to me. I love this community especially this website wholeheartedly and I thank each of you for the kind words, thoughts and prayers. I promise when I get through the personal issue, I will be back on here to offer my wit and 2 cents (even when not warranted). As @BTaylor mentioned, I can definitely use all the prayers I can get as I go through one of the most painful experiences of my life. Thank you all for everything and I will keep everyone posted about events and future plans. Also I will continue to host the SaddleFlaooza each February for anyone who wants to donate gear, come down to share experiences, techniques, and tips for others both experienced and new. It’s a 3 day event where we all camp out, eat some award winning BBQ and try to do fun things like hog hunts and scavenger hunts for gear,
Thanks again for the kind words. You guys are the best!

Gotta do what you gotta do. No harm in that. Hope you come out stronger on the otherside.

And I missed this thread originally. Found out when I went to the site. I guess I won't be sporting a Woods saddle now....

This will surely slow progrès in this sport.few people even know how à saddle should fit and function. I love my dudes work and passion for knowledge in all things related.if ther was a saddle hunter vender prostaff dreamteam getting woods to work with overwatch, eastern woods, tree hopper, custom gear, jrb.,brocky, samcirrus,weldabeast,redbeard......this is would speed up progress in this gear junky sport for sure.this cheezy statement is just an undeniable fact.stay up Robert.
