Gear setup for packing in

For those of you who use sticks and a platform, how do you pack your setup in? I'm an avid out of state hunter but this fall will be my first with a saddle. I've made a few trial runs into the field using my existing pack but it is not working so well with the combo of my predator platform and sticks. Any ideas or tips you can share, or any specific packs that are great for this use?

I have a small piece of paracord that doubles as a silencer when I close my Predator platform and has a loop with a carabiner on it - I hook that onto the top handle of my back pack so it doesn't dangle and hit me in the back of the legs. My pack has side straps/clips and I put two sticks on one side and the other two sticks on the other side.

I use the G3 Horn Hunter pack - it might give you a better representation of how I pack my gear.

I find that packs that have the straps on the bottom of the pack work great for my sticks. Then strap my platform on the outside with gear ties. They are silent and hold things in place. A good pack is worth every cent no matter how you hunt IMO.

Yes - I've strapped my LW sticks to the bottom, as well, but I found them to be a little long to hold horizontally and I got caught up in some brush at times. Also, I like walking in light and strapping my gear to the bottom straps. Many ways to skin a cat, but I 100% agree - a good pack that works with your system is priceless.

That looks like a very nice system, I'd be curious to see what others use too. Are you able to maneuver up the tree with your pack on, or do you do some re-arranging when getting to the tree to prepare to climb?

Go here. Great examples. Get a pack with molle is what I suggest. Dont go sling pack if you are planning to pack more than 15+ lbs.

Yes - I take my pack off at the base of the tree, detach my platform and attach it to the back of my saddle, detach my sticks, put my backpack back on, hang one stick at the base of the tree, attach my bow to my haul, start climbing. I make one trip up the tree and one trip down. This was my first year hunting out of the saddle and had the same process since day 1. Shot a real nice 8 on 10/24 here in NJ.

I tried attaching everything to my pack (I tried several packs) and didn't like it, doesn't help I have full sized Heliums. What I settled on it to attach my platform to my pack's molle webbing with nite-ize ties. It holds tight and works well. Since I'm not quartering/packing out the meat, I wasn't going to spend $$$ on a specialty pack.

For my sticks, I wrap a paracord loop around each end and use a 2Q canteen sling. That way, my pack is on my back, bow is in my right hand and sticks are slung over my left shoulder. Once I get to the tree, the platform clips onto my saddle and carry the (2) remaining sticks up the tree slung over each shoulder using the tree strap as a sling loop.
