have I overlooked bino harness as the best minimalist setup?

Laky,

What brand/model is the harness in your pic?

It's part of JX3's new Versa Pack System. It's a kit with several other pieces that are all modular. You don't have to use it with the Hybrid saddle. It can be used separately. But, it also all attaches to the Hybrid nicely if you want.

I never used bino the last few years. Mainly because most of the spots I hunt don't have the need for them (in my opinion) so I never look at getting a chest harness setup. But lately I come to realized that a bino harness would be great for all the things I would need and since I hate pouches on my saddle. I don't need more than a few essentials and I think they might all fit in a medium size harness with maybe another small pouch.

A small rangefinder
Knife
grunt tube
fawn bleat
40ft of paracords
snacks
A small water bottle
bare Kill/Aid/ER kit (glove,bandage,knife,tape,lighter)
backup release

What say you? Anyone run a chest setup full time in saddle? I see guys bow hunt with bino harness all the time and it does not seem to hinder them.

I personally love the FHF Gear chest rig, but I've been trying to convince myself that I don't need the Kifaru Steelhead as well... I can shoot with my chest rig on with no issues, but I usually choose to utilize it in the tree as a workstation.

I've also had the Badlands Bino XR, and that was really nice, except for my current aversion to magnets...

I'm debating if I want to move it to the tree once at height. Last year I used a small pouch/pack that I transfer to the tree which work fine too, but doing that really does not change anything. I'm hoping that with everything right at my chest, there would be less movement and keep everything tight to my profile. Like instead of reaching for the grunt that is hanging on the tree, I just reach into the chest rig, grunt, and lower it back into the harness. Just imagining the scenario in my head, it reduce my hand movement by a lot.

Leaning, I get pretty much no interference. If you sit, you may get some rubbing on the bottom corners. Of course it all depends on the width of your rig and the height that you wear it! I personally don't like running pouches to the sides of the rig, and I typically wear it pretty high. One of the reasons that I usually connect to the tree, is that if I pack in, I have the chest rig integrated into the pack suspension vs. separately suspended.

The Helicon Tex one is less expensive and more conducive to saddle hunting gear storage.

yep, Rick Young harness is awesome and light. Perfect for Saddle hunting, any hunting!
I have a bino harness from Rick Young Outdoors. You can't get more minimalist than this and I love how you don't have to worry about the straps twisting at all. Easy to put on in the dark.
