Hawk Helium Hammock Apex Platform

Looks like it would be slick if wet and I don’t know why they angle the bracket the way they did.... definitely would’ve been better to make the teeth curve with the tree.

I appreciate the review. First video one I've seen on the Apex.

I don’t understand the hate for the apex platform. I received one as a present from my kids and so far I am completely impressed. Before I even used it I felt like I needed to modify it to use it, but decided to try it anyway and all I can say is WOW! I love it. I don’t own a predator or mission but I have friends who do and they have to set it repeatedly to get it to cam over tight, but with the apex I just tightened the cam strap pulled it down and it was rock solid. No noise or movement on the tree and was extremely comfortable for 3.5 hour lean. It was dry the day I hunted but didn’t feel that the platform was slick and no squeaks from my rubber sole boots. Maybe I was just lucky, but don’t judge this platform before you have personally tried it, so far I love mine.

Rix,
Well said. I wish I had deeper pockets to get the top of the line gear that is out there, but from what I've been reading and now seen, I believe the Apex will serve a lot of saddle hunters perfectly.

I saw it on Camofire the other day for $60 in case anyone is looking for one. May be worth waiting a while to see if it pops back up

My internet is too slow today to watch videos. I'm interested in the weight of this platform without the cam buckle and strap included. Does he weigh it? I know what the website says, but Hawk usually shaves weight.

Grabbed one on that sale the other day to throw up on public land and leave up. Finish is very slick but the “clean welds” give it some grip the little pad for the adjustment screw is a nice touch. I’ll be throwing my extra predator bracket or an ewo on it though. We’ll see how it holds up I’m 6’2 290# so if it can deal with me the rest of you guys should be fine

Thanks. Just picked this up for that great price. I already have one. This is a super alternative for those on a tight budget. Will be great for a mobile hunter. I’m on a lease so I have pre-sets. These are perfect. A little grip tape and your good to go.

Hawk has had some pretty common QC issues lately on their sticks. Their gear is made in vietnam by a bunch of people who dont even know what saddle hunting is. I can say those things without trying it. Terrible customer service if you do have issues.

Thats why people judge it before they try it. Bad reputation and untrustworthy company

Finally got a chance to bring it out and get set up, initially had some issues getting it to stop pulling away from the tree, a better standoff would be a huge improvement, doesn’t really make noise and the grip tape made a big difference. Handles side pressure incredibly well.

I was thinking of getting the Hawk platform and replacing the standoff with one that doesn't have that weird convex shape, either from doublesteps or Lone Wolf. Does anybody know the tubing size, and for those who have used the platform, do you think the standoff needs to be replaced?
