Hawk sticks available

He prolly has full length sticks

Sorry guys. My mistake not being more clear. To date I have not cut my sticks down. I'm waiting to see how I like 23" between steps in full winter gear before doing that. So I still have double steps at the top and one step at the bottom and one in the middle. @Ontariofarmer got it right.

I pre-ordered mine from bowhuntingoutletcom and have yet to hear anything from them with exception of confirmation of my payment of course. So I reordered a new set from Cabela's and they are already on their way and I should have them in a couple of days. I'm sure hoping they get my money back or at least my sticks from the other company I pre-ordered from. Anybody have any bad dealings with bowhuntingoutletcom?

I pre ordered from them as well and was able to cancel them via email. They kept putting off the restock date so I wasn’t going to keep holding my breath

Okay thanks. I've tried to get them to respond to an email and as of yet have been unsuccessful. I guess I'll keep trying.

Good news I contacted them again through email and they refunded my money. I guess I sound a little more irritated in the last email than I had previously. Now I got another hundred dollars I can spend on something else. Might get a second set from Cabelas.

Just wondering if this might be an idea

Cut the wings off a small piece of the hawk stick tube that I had
My guess is
With the wings the stick is about 2.3 Without. My guess is 1.9 pounds. An Infalt stick weight with folding steps.
I think the post would still be strong I would leave some wing around the step standoff and versa button. I am wondering about trying it

Ok, I pulled a stick out of my closet to look at. Are you intending on keeping the orientation the same? The strength in the one direction probably won't change significantly but it will be really soft in the side to side direction. If it twists when you put your weight on a middle step, there is a really good chance it will buckle. I can take some measurements tomorrow and actually tell you how much softer it will be if you like.

Personally, I don't think the weight savings would be worth the loss in stability. You are only talking about 1.2# spread out over 3 sticks.

Making the stick shorter, switching to an amsteel rope mod and adding an aider to the bottom seem like a better way to get higher and lighter.

I have mine cut down to 22" overall with rope and versa button. I have 19.5" in between steps. Was just wondering if it was possible to maybe cut some of the wings out. Maybe half on each side in between the steps. Not sure about cutting them all the way off like in that pic

I don't have one right I'm from of me but if those wings were half inch wide per side, could I safely cut off 1/4"?

I think this was the original intention. To lighten up some shortened & rope modded sticks in order to save more weight.

I have twisted a full length step out of alignment. Personally I wouldn’t trust it if the wings were cut off. Weight savings/risk ain’t there for me. Just my $.02.

Good feedback. Maybe the idea is bad. If I can get an extra stick I will try it anyway.

How did you twist a full length sticks?!?! I'm only 155# so I highly doubtful I would ever twist a stick lol

I’m 175lbs. I was descending and holding on to the foot aider hanging from the above step. Standing on the top step on a knarly tree, the stick kicked out and went sideways. The aider I was holding onto provided little support as it was not tied to the step(it was merely looped over the bottom steps and behind the stand off). Thus allowing it to rotate. I wouldn’t call it a fall cause dropped 12” maybe 18” at most. However it was a wake up call for me.

Did you twist the stick or the attached step?

I just bought one more stick to make four total. They were so easy to set up just seemed like the thing to do. Now I can get up to 18 easily which where I hunt works perfect.

These sticks are the bees knees:tonguewink:

99.99 and free shipping at cabelas

What was your total price? I remembered earlier the post someone mentioned there may have been tax and an oversized charge. Plus, I used my interest free PayPal credit card haha

I’ve seen people use 7mm, 8mm and the muddy safeline which I think I saw is 9mm. Before I buy some rope, anyone have any input on which works best or does it not matter too much between the 3? “Accesory cord” right? Thanks in advance. Excited to get these in.
