52 year old hunter and veteran chasing critters throughout the US. Residing outside the Detroit Area. I am new to saddle hunting and can wait to get involved in this technique. I will no longer have to look for the right tree to use with a climbing stand, I just need to find the right tree. Any advice would be appreciated for this noob!!!!

Spend the off-season watching some videos on different gear and try things out. We have a great classifieds section here if you join as a member (if you have not done so already) so you can load up and unload unwanted gear easily without losing much money.
This is a great group of people that look out for each other and share some good times!

Welcome from the Boyne area. There's a bunch of guys on here from Michigan and hopefully we can work out some sort of meetup to give some different gear a tryout and share some techniques this spring once it warms up a bit.

Keep an eye on here for meetups in your area. It's a great space to meet others in your area and try out gear. Tethrd is doing a saddle event sometime in June-July, that would be a great thing to attend.

Learn as much as you can and be prepared to spend some coin :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:. Don't get discouraged and ask questions, this is a fast-growing segment and there is always something to learn.
