Welcome from Arkansas!

This site is full of DIY stuff and some really nice and helpful guys.

And keep an eye on the classifieds. If your going to take your time and piece together a saddle there is a lot of great deals that pop up there, from raw materials to build from all the way to someone’s old rig they don’t need anymore.

Welcome from Georgia. I would personally recommend a commercial saddle unless you are good with a thread injector. The great thing about getting ready for next year is there is the lefty of time to try others gear before purchasing your own. That’s probably the biggest expense in saddle hunting is trying new saddles and climbing methods. If you can nail that down before you start buying you will save a lot.
