So arrowed a nice buck this morning right at first light. Haven't got down yet. See blood on the ground where I hit him. But he ran 50yrds into the field. He paced back and forth , winded me and ran over the hill... I'm thinking a little high. But he was close. Good down angle. How long do I wait. I don't want to bump him. It's plenty cold...

Complete pass through with that 750gr and masaai. It zipped through him. 10yrds...so should be a hole at the bottom.

Yeah, if you have any doubts about the shot and have the time and weather to wait, then I agree with giving him 2 hours.

Hoping he’s down just over the hill from you, man! Good luck!

My BiL single lunged one. It ran forever. Lost blood and found it 40 yards from that point grid searching. I swear that deer only died when it ran out of blood. Cleanest gut job ever.

But if you hit high full pass thru from hard angle you probably got more than one lung. This particular deer my BiL shot he hit low just catching a lung.

If you lose blood in your search or think he could of went a ways I’ll make sure you get down wind from last time you seen him keep us posted!

What's the arrow look like? Blood at impact? Tracking dogs legal there? I would call a tracker for advice. I hit one too far forward on a quartering away shot a couple years ago and got one lung. Called my buddy with a tracking dog right away and they came out and started tracking immediately. We bumped the deer from a bed and pushed it almost half a mile before it was too exhausted to keep going, and I got a follow up shot. He said with a one lung hit you have to push them (preferably with a dog) to keep it from clotting up. So giving him a few hours might just be giving him time to heal.

i dunno...if you came out the bottom there could still be white hair. if you hit low maybe got one lung that arrow looks good to me but is there any meat on it? brisket shot bleeds alot and then clots up quick like your saying. if you did get a lung some dog trackers will say to keep pushing them on a one lung to keep the blood pumping out. how big is the property youre hunting? dont wanna push him off the property of course...
you might consider getting a dog before you go walking all over the blood trail. amazing what they can do in a fraction of the time.

Agree on calling a tracking dog. If it was a very steep downward angle shot, you probably didn’t clip both lungs unless your arrow entered right up by his spine; you almost can’t hit one “too high” without clipping the spine when they’re very close, at least not while still going out the belly and cutting all that white hair. The white hair makes me think low exit, and the bright red blood makes me think meat hit, though there might be small bubbles in the blood on the arrow that I just can’t see on my phone.

I called a guy about tracking. He's at work till 4... Got 100 yrds of bright red blood.. then nothing. If it was him I saw were he went over the road. I found no blood there...

Could I have hit low? Sliced the brisquet? This is my arrow and last blood.. I don't see any bubbles in it .Screenshot_20201030-130609.pngScreenshot_20201030-130557.png

It look like it hit high to me. But could have been low. With that angle it's hard tell. I could have been low...

The arrow has a paste like substance on it. Not the creamy tallow.

Thats a lot of blood for last blood. It is possible to hit brisket and see a lot.... tracked one with my buddy opening day that he hit and it went about 350yrds and dried up..... checked a trail cam and noticed he hit brisket. Unfortunate thing to happen, but luckily the deer is alive and well and still showing up, but not in daylight anymore!
