How long does it take you to set up?

This thread is why I get annoyed when people say it takes too long to climb with bolts compared to sticks.

I was wondering what all the bolt preachers were doing on public land lol...I just got my mini drill this weekend and I have to admit...pretty slick system will be using it again tonight

I know this is not a race, and that safety comes first. But since I am a rookie this year, I would like to get some idea how long it takes you on average from the time you get to the tree until you are completely ready to go; that is bow in hanger and loaded, all gear where you want it, and ready to sit. Right now I would say it takes me close to 40 minutes. That seems slow to me. Curious.

Thanks

Well known tree to me 15 minutes or less.

Unknown with a lot of branches maybe 25.

Worst ones a half hour give or take.

Takes me about a minute per bolt. If I go any faster I sweat like a pig. Once i get to the height I want its about 10 minutes to have my arrow knocked. I go really slow, nothing qworse then walking for an hour to a spot to hear a snort halfway or at the top of the tree because I want to haul my pack and bow up fast.

I was curious how long it was taking me so I timed it on a hunt one day. Started clock when I got to tree. Took off back pack. Got my 4 cut down lonewolf sticks off. Bottom stick has a cable Aider. Top stick has a scout platform. Get about 15 ft. Climbed up and hung my backpack, nocked an arrow and hung bow ready to hunt in about 12 min. No limbs to fight around or trim.
To go from hunting to sticks packed on backpack, walking away took 10min. I’m happy with that.

From arriving at the base of the tree to having gun in hand ready to shoot it takes me about 20 minutes in the daylight. I bet I add another 5 in the dark.

That’s three sticks, one CAYG aider, and platform. I carry the the sticks strapped to a pack and my platform inside.

This thread made me curious how long it takes me to get to 24 ft. Now I know it takes 1.5 x longer if I get in a hurry. Unloaded my one stick platform combo. Climbed to hunting height ready myself to pull up my bow " That I forgot to hook to the pull up rope because I was in a hurry. So I rappelled down and SRT back up to hunting height. Total of 35 min.
Conclusion don't be concerned about time. Stay safe and precise.

I usually turn on my GPS tracker for my walk in to keep a running log of what trails I might have cut. Last night I forgot to turn it on until the last 50 yards or so. It has a timing feature to show you how long the track took. I also like to turn it off once I picked a tree so I have an accurate time estimate of my walk-ins, last night was not the case as I forgot to turn it off until I was completely setup.

I was always under the impression it takes me 25 to 30 minutes to setup. From the time I turned my tracker on, eased into where I wanted to hunt, picked a tree, one-stick climbed, and got completely setup it took me 20 mins. Im usually very deliberate and quiet when I climb so it was definitely not rushed.

I DRT and when a tree is preset with rope, about 2-3 mins to tie in and climb and 3-5 mins to set platform, gear strap, hang bag, pull up bow, store excess rope, and maybe tether to tree.

first few times took me 20-40 mins, especially if I forgot to tie my bow to the pull up rope
