How many orders would it take to do a run of larger platforms?

I had mine almost designed up, I would have to go back and see how it compared. It was close to the length away from the tree I think, but wider on the sides for when you would stand and twist to shot behind you. Just don’t have the time to tweak on it right now. I was working on this when the news on the predator came out. Don’t have funds or time to really take on a project if this magnitude.
These are size 13’s steel toes for a size idea. About 10.6” deep x 16 wide.

that looks pretty awesome! Sending you a PM about it.

Im not sure if I’m going to end up a platform guy or a ring of steps guy. I’m back and forth on it. As far as platforms go the predator is about as well balanced in size and weight as I think anyone will ever get. Definitely not getting any easier to setup. I can see why others wish for a larger platform. Really if your going to shoot for a 6 pound platform start searching for some of the loc on windwalkers. The early ones are around that weight and you can have all the room you need. And you can turn around and sit if you would like or use it as a shelf to set stuff on. Maybe replace the seat with a drink holder and thermacell holder.

The problem is that a stand won’t handle side pressure as well as a predator or similar.

I’d rather pay the money for something that’s designed for side pressure.

And there are the "wings" I've wanted to see on a platform....looks great.

I briefly looked at this design earlier this year. To make it strong it would weigh well over 6 lbs. The picture underestimates the amount of aluminum overall and required to strengthen at the stress points.

It's difficult to stay light with bigger no matter how you shake it. At what point do you decide you just want to carry a treestand in the woods?

18 wide, 14 deep?
Correct. Here is a picture for reference.

Def interested. I love the wings as well. More room to maneuver and plenty of room for the big feet rubber boot guys.

It’s impossible to please everyone with a product like this. Some like ultra lite very compact while others will pack more weight for a little bigger platform.
I feel the predator platform is very close with it’s design and it will evolve into the ultimate platform in time.

Yup . They hit a home run IMO. It is the only platform I have ever liked. Long time saddle hunters designed it for the saddle hunter. But we are all different and saddle hunting varies with preferences and body size

I really like the predator but feel having 2 platforms would be ideal. The predator for going deep and for normal bow hunting sits (4-5 hours), and a larger heavier platform for those all day sits during the rut or when I am only a 1/4 mile from the truck.

Exactly!

A windwalker weighs 6lbs, and has the added bonus of a seat if you want to mix it up a little. It doesn't handle side pressure well, but with a platform of that size you don't really need to swing around the tree like you do with a ROS or smaller platform.

Unless I end up with a hybrid, the kestrel and a windwalker will be my rut setup. I can sit and hang during all day sits, and the relatively huge platform allows me room to add layers on cold days. With carbon bolts, that setup is about 12lbs total weight.

I think there's still a place for stands like loc-on and chippewa used to make.
