How To Use MadRock Safeguard

Silly question cause I've never used this gizmo and never had a prusik attached to a bridge loops or had a break below the rappel point.....if the worst happens and the gizmo fails and the prusik grabs wouldn't u now be hanging crazy? Either ur back or stomach to the trunk and laying kinda sideways with ur opposite hip facing the ground directly below u
Not if the friction hitch is above the device and not on the brake line side. Then you’d be hanging just like you’re normal tether connection

Right.... That is why I have my back up above the rappel point. I was just curious if the hitch on the bridge loop would make any kind of recovery more difficult and it sounded like it does

I believe that how you end up hanging in the unlikely event of a device failure depends on where the backup system is connected to you. That's why it's always connected at my centerline, either at the same place as my primary connection, or right beside it. For me, the loops on my hips are too far away for me to be comfortable with using them as a backup connection point.

I believe that it's kinda normal when you first start learning to rappel. I had similar issues when I fist started. Even with 9mm Canyon Elete my first few times were very jerky and I also felt like was having to really pull hard on the handle of the MR. This video really help me with the proper technique, and allowed me to be much smoother.
