Understand! That’s the hard part of this big rabbit hole. It’s not like you can go try all these out at a local sporting goods store. Go with what your comfortable with, but if you get a chance to try any others especially the ones I mentioned, do it. You’ll be glad you did! Good luck!

My first saddle and my favorite is the aero hunter kite. I wish I would have known they would discontinue it. I'd bought a backup.

All of us kite and kestrel fans need to send aero hunter/new tribe an email to bring back the kestrel and kite. I honestly think it would do well for them.

Do you have a picture of that homemade saddle?
Took me a bit to find the old post but here she is. I have since replaced the waist buckle with a rated one.

OG Aerohunter Flex in ASAT before they messed up the design (because people whined about 2 absolute nonstarters and this is why we can't have nice things). It's pretty much the perfect saddle for me, comfy AF, and I dig ASAT

What non-starters? I have the flex (pre-Merlin era, but with the update for some of the lining peeling) in predator fall gray with rope bridge. I guess not totally OG, but it is my favorite commercial saddle. And BTW, predator fall gray is more comfortable than ASAT.

The peeling fabric coating and the pleat staying open all the time.

well i only have one, and no plans to replace it- original latitude method. i may try to figure out how to sew some rare earth magnets in to the waist band to get rid of the seond panel clips like they did for V2.0, but it's a great saddle, i see no point in replacing it. perhaps when my kids grow up if they want to hunt i'll let one of them have it and get a new one, but the oldest is 5 so i've got some time...

I was hanging in the Merlin the other day and I feel it's just not as good as the Kestrel so I put and adjustable tubular webbing bridge on my Kestrel and calling it a day!

I have a Kestrel, Kite and Flex. Love the Kestrel and have hunted 2 years out of it. I hung in the Kite and it was nice, but I’ve still never hunted from it. Hunted the flex last year and really like it.

Going to take some more hunt time in the Flex before I could a decision against my Kestrel.
