Anyone have suggestions for an inflatable raft to cross small rivers and creeks? Looking for something that I can pack and hike with to cross a river that is too deep and to much muck for waders and has more portability than a kayak. Any advice from those that have tried something like this is appreciated.

I hauled one back two miles in a couple trash bags and stowed it in a blowdown. A month later I went for my hunt, pulled it out of the bags and rats or mice had chewed holes all over it.

I never attempted an inflatable again.

I went to the same spot with a kayak on wheels and killed a deer the next season.

Not sure if it’s any good or not, but I believe this fits the ticket:

I used to use one that I bought from Academy to cross a good sized creek. It was like $100. I pumped it up and left it under an old tree. It worked good for a season.

This is what I had.

Daniel Lemon from Do It Yourself Hunter just posted a video a few days ago of him shooting an Indiana Brute after he inflated a small raft to head in to an untouched area. You may want to connect them via YT to see if he has a make and model to recommend.

I have this one I never got a chance to use I might be interested in selling

My wife and I have Alpacas. Never used them for hunting, but they are impressively tough. Get a 4-piece paddle and you're good to pack. We actually hiked up the Arkansas river near Salida, CO a few years ago then inflated our rafts and floated back down. It was....eventful.

Kinda pricey, but top-notch quality.

That is a good stretch of river at times. Good rapids and tons of fish.

I didn't fish, but what was crazy were the mule deer standing in the water watching us float by 25 yards away. (it was "hot" that day)

Depending on exactly what you're looking for this could fit the bill for you. I bought this to pack in for retrieving ducks but I've since moved on to using a round float tube. I'm going to sell it if you are interested. You can get a small lithium ion air pump and pump it up very quick and light.

I would like to see someone in their gear get in that thing. :tearsofjoy:

Inflatable anything sucks! :( I've tried them and compared to a kayak, I wouldn't have one stuck to the bottom of my foot.
As soon as you stop paddling, the boat stops, there's always some sort of air/inflation issues and the lack of room is never ending for the amount of boat size you have to purchase.
Canoes are barely 1 notch up from inflatables, due to their lack of stability. They're horribly tipsy and unstable.

A hybrid kayak/canoe is the best option, for hunting and fishing. Plenty of room for a deer and gear and the best for stability...even for standing while fishing. Ascend makes a 10' and a 12' model, the H10 and H12 and they're easily transported on the smallest of vehicles.

This kind of works from my situation!
