Insulated Bibs Recommendations?

Anyone have some bibs they like/recommend that aren’t Sitka or First Lite?
It’s only cold enough a few times a year for me to use bibs, so I’m not looking to spend crazy money.
Thx

I bought a set from a member here a couple years ago made by midway and I have been more than satisfied with them. I add a base layer and was comfortable down to 30s. with an additional base layer I was good to high teens.

If you are only wearing them a couple times, the Nomad Cottonwoods are good enough. They are usually 50% with codes. I think I got mine for $90?!

I got a pair of Sitka Fanatic bibs last season and they are nice, but they are not full MSRP nice. Lightly used or heavily discounted is only way I would buy them. Also they don't seem to be holding up well to climbing for saddle hunting. I think the would be great for climbing in and out of ladder stands all the time, but climbing methods for saddle hunting seem to be a little rougher on gear.

Excellent, but they only have a one way zipper. So, you can follow my thread below.

Midway has huge sales in the summer, and these will go on sale and be like 80 bucks.

Tough to go wrong with Carhartt bibs if you plan to use them for more than just hunting. I have a pair of Cabelas bibs (maybe branded Red Head? not sure...) that work well for me. I can recommend features more than brands. You want bibs that zip down each leg from the boot up to the hip, which makes it really easy to pack them in and put them on without taking your boots off. Pockets don't matter so much to me for bibs, since my late-season jacket pockets can hold everything I need handy. I don't think reinforced knees or ankle spots are necessary, especially if you're going to pack them in for each hunt, reducing wear.

Not sure if you’re a scentlok guy but the Hyrdotherm bibs by scentlok are very warm. The coat that goes with it is superb too.

Rivers West Ambush bibs. My brother loves them.

I use the Sitka Incinerator myself, because they pack so well for going in deep.

It’s only cold enough for bibs at the very end of season here so I actually went with a heated vest this season. I would highly recommend it. I wear a set of Omni wool base layers underneath my pants, Omni wool base under my vest, and then a fleece-like Natural Gear Coat and that’s been more than comfortable in the 20-30s.

Prior to that, I had a set of fleece Nat Gear bibs that I packed in and put on at the tree; they’re very quiet, comfortable, and warm. The only downside is that they’re a little heavy.

Look at the Nomad, any of their bibs. I have the Elevated whitetal bibs, they may be a bit warm for you but if you don't layer underneath they are excellent bibs. I paid 150 bucks I believe! Shawn

I have the Rivers West Ambush bibs and coat also. I'd only recommend them for sitting still in very cold conditions (below 15 F, for me). And you can't walk in with them no matter how cold it is or you will sweat like crazy. But for sitting still in 0 F, they are the best thing I've ever tried. I sat in 25 F with just those two pieces and a thin base layer and I was totally warm. The insulation is the highest loft berber fleece I've ever seen in a hunting garment, which also makes them very comfortable. The outer layer is the most windproof thing I've every worn, but it doesn't breath at all.

Good to know! Thx

I like my Plythal bibs. You can find them on Camofire for around $120. I only wear them mid 20's or below unless the wind is howling.

I have the Predator Ambush bibs. They are nice especially on sale. If anybody gets these just remember to size up. I wear a M and purchased a L and the fit is great. If I didn't have them I would look into the new Scent lok BE1 Fortress but the downside is that they are expensive as heck. Both are windproof and have good camo patterns imo.
