I personally wouldn't want to 1-stick because I'm too darn clumsy
& would eventually drop the stick! Not a big problem for me, because I connect my rappel line at ground level (or hoist it up on a paracord pre-set tree) & use it as my tether on the way up, but it would still be a BPITA!
Plus, the arthritis, (that is constantly reminding me of my age,
) doesn't like the contortions that I have tried that are needed for me to 1-stick! I tried to do it with one of my sticks, & it just isn't for me.
But, some hunters swear by this method, because it works for
them.
