I had an arrow skip from a tiny branch last week. Saw the lighted nock in flight and that the arrow went well high and left. But, it seemed to shut off when it skipped. It was dusk and figured I’d find it when the sun went down. Nope. No light anywhere to be seen. Have since searched in daylight with no luck. It’s a goner. Lighted knock, gold tip hunter pro, brand new muzzy broadhead. Stinks but part of it, I guess.I
i am not, that would likely solve some of my problems and a few I might have found but I do know some of these arrows I have lost are under grasses that are over ankle deep water. I can however think of a few that I would have likely found if they were lighted. Good tip.
This. Its a personal choice, use what ever you think gives you the best odds of quick kills. Hard to put a price on that...
I can relate to that….I shot a cow elk this year. She was broadside at 13 yards, in the mountains, uphill from me, kind of at the crest of the ridge. The arrow zipped through her chest cavity and didn’t slow down. I looked for the arrow for a few minutes but had a feeling that given the shot angle, thick underbrush, and trajectory, my searching was futile. It was. I use reflective arrow wraps which have really helped me find quite a few arrows in the dark.I had an arrow skip from a tiny branch last week. have you noticed they affect your flight at all? I hate losing or breaking an arrow more than most things in life. Even if I shoot a deer and it breaks as a result, I’m pissed and I try to salvage bits of whatever I do find.I use reflective arrow wraps which have really helped me find quite a few arrows in the dark.
No effect for me. They weigh about 1 grain per inch, so my 4” reflective wraps add about 4-5 grains to my total arrow weight. I first started using these many years ago. They really help with two things: finding my arrow after the shot (they really reflect!) and finding my elk hunting camp at night. (Hang my bow up on a tree near my tarp, walk off to go hang up my food away from the bears - turn around and it makes finding camp so much easier - instead of stumbling around in the dark, where all the aspen trees look the same!)have you noticed they affect your flight at all? Another vote for magnus, shaving sharp from the package, easy to sharpen, and unmatched warranty. I lose one a year ground hunting, I'll look 20 minutes or so because I don't want a sharp pointy stick laying around.
