I'll try to figure out the issue. I never had it attach like this before using Tapatalk. I may have to use my computer but won't be able to do that until tonight as I am not at home. It can also be opened under the link to the post that Wayne r shared.

So I found out my mom has an old Singer Stylist 774/734 packed away. The year in the manual is 1975. I've been looking through the manual but just skimming through, I have no idea what I'm looking at. Will one of you seasoned thread injector operators please check out the info on this thing and see if its saddle making worthy or if I need to upgrade?

Finally found a review on it. Sounds like it may do the job. Any advice on needle size for the Tera 40?

Thanks Wayne! I was wondering what its was voing to take to go through the webbing. Is 500d cordura as low as I should go? I've found some 300d camo I like better but I don't want it ripping on me. Seems options are kind of limited on cordura camo.

I have only done similar to others , my outer is 500d but the dark brown inner is 1000d, personally I don't think going with lesser material would be the right thing to do, a heavier needle like I used will help go through the webbing easier, the cordura isn't an issue really, let us know how you get on,regards wayne

I made mine from 1000d but the webbing is what does the majority of the weight holding. I think you would be safe with 500d and 300d.

Just always test at ground level first and look at stitching after each use.

That's a smartphone for ya lol. Thanks man. I'm learning more and more everyday. Going to get all my materials ordered this weekend. I've been sewing some random fabric today to just get the feel of the machine. First time I've ever used one in my life. I'm very excited about starting on it. Do you know of any reference I could look to for a stitching pattern? Also, what did you use for the grosgrain? 1" webbing?

1 inch grossgain will work. 1.5 inch maybe easier to work with though as it will give you larger area to stitch. I have made them without it though too by using a rolled hem.

I just copied the stitching on my mantis. I think there is a stitch guide under the sewing resources.

Yeah I think I'll go with the 1.5". I can't seem to find much on stitch pattern. Sailrite had some pretty usual info. Do you mind posting pics of some of the sitiching on your mantis to help give me a general idea? I'm thinking box stitches for the ends and centers and bar tacks in between.

It was pretty much a stitch around the edge of the webbing. Then the "v" stitch about one third the length of the bottom webbing panel.

The top webbing I used a straight stitch around the outer edge. The molle looks will help to lock the top webbing in. I also used an "x"/box stitch in the corners of the saddle.

Hopefully this makes sense

To clarify that is the mantis and not my homemade saddle.
I also included a photo of the mantis "loops" to hook up the leg straps to the bottom of the saddle.

Yessir that helped a lot. Thanks! One question though. Are the leg straps on the mantis stand alone or are they sewn at some point and the G hooks slide into those loops?

They are seen into the bottom of the middle webbing. Do not cut it in half but leave the 1 inch webbing whole length. I didn't tape it but it appears to be about 60 inches (I could cut a bunch out but don't since I'm thinking of selling it). Run the 1 inch over it then under the 2 inch webbing. Then secure with a box stitch.
