I used the cheap Harbor Freight knee pads the past 2 seasons, and they were fine but got uncomfortable after a while. Recently I picked up a set of the Klein Tools gel knee pads. They have a lot more cushioning, a flatter face, and the rubber outer coating is more rigid, but still soft enough to grip the tree well.

Highly recommend for $25.

I'm interested in responses to this as well. I have these on my list. Discomfort with knee pads for me doesn't come from the pads, but from the straps around the sides and backs of my knees. My first sit left a sore spot on the inside of my left knee that lasted for a couple of weeks. Felt like a bad bruise but no visible mark, just a red spot. Figured these sleeve type might be better.

Alternatively I thought about sewing some velcro patches to my pants and then the opposite side velcro to the pads, and attaching them that way, but never got around to it.

I wore these for the 1st time today and was happy with them. I walked over 1.5 miles with them on and they did not need repositioned. They were very comfortable and did the job flawlessly.
They are very lightweight too.

Thanks for posting those. Did you wear them under your outer layer or on the outside?

Did you wear them under or over your pants? I've thought about these but wonder if they tend to bunch up your pants around your knee if wearing them over top.

Wore them under my camo, on top of my base layer. Think they would be way too tight on top of an outer layer. For reference, I am 6'2" and weight 225. I bought a M/L. A Lg/XL might work as an outer layer for me.

Awesome thanks for following up. Good to know about the size too. I'll probably go with the lg/xl since I'm 6'1" 275.

Yeah thanks for the reply. Going to order some.

I prefer to wear mine over my pants. I don't typically wear them when I'm walking in or even when I'm climbing. I usually put them on once I'm settled up in the tree. I don't have issues with them shifting or slipping, but I also usually have my knee high snake boots on so the knee pads kind of rest of top of the boots .

I bought a set of HF $`12.99 to try out and they are OK. I will get through this season and reassess. The Trophyline version looks pretty decent. When I was looking online, I saw the Klein version, but they looked glossy and that was a concern. No issues???

They don't seem glossy to me. Pretty dull, especially after wearing them in thr tree a bit.

I have the same set I started using at the start of this season. I agree, I highly recommend also. I believe I picked them up locally at Lowe’s.

Ive used the hard shell style cheapos for awhile and they definitely get the job done. One of my local archery shops was selling the trophyline knee pads so i bought em and really like them. They conform to your knee a bit which makes wearing them in decently comfortable where with the others i almost would never wear them in. The hard shell styles are also big and bulky and tend to have loud velcro straps. worth the upgrade when you can.

These are a tad bulky, but much more comfortable than the completely soft ones. They have a fairly hard exterior but it's more rubbery, not hard plastic, and the gel inside is very nice.

Just got a pair of the trophyline pads and they are worth the money. Comfortable, quiet, and don't break the bank
