Kong Slyde

Yup, that's a neat little device, I picked one up for messing around with also, I'm sure I'll find a use for it. Also following this post now

I’m curious to see if it could be used on a lineman’s belt or if still requires somewhat of a two hand adjustment.

That was my one of my thoughts also, I've got one coming so we'll see

To descend , or let rope out, it needs to be unweighted and rotate the device to unblock the rope. Easy one hand tending though.
Too small of a diameter rope causes it to bypass itself in the device so the it only wraps around and won’t lock up.
The Petzl and DMM rubber grommets are too small to work, an o ring with a twist holds nicely.

One more edit: these came from an extras box for the picture, they will be returne, to give an indication how much I use them.

On behalf of all, where are you purchasing the proper sized O ring that fits? Just go into Lowe’s or HD maybe? Yes, I just ordered one and am a Slyde rookie but we all know you want to ask to. You know who you are....

The o ring is great! Does it eliminate the metal on metal sound? Also jealous you found the gold one.

thanks for that video! It definitely looks like a viable option on a LB. Now who wants to drop a sack of bricks using one to see if it reduces shock load??

Looks to be 1 3/8” on the o ring, nothing special. I got the yellow ones from Karst Sports a few years back. Tubular webbing is too large also.
The type of rope used may allow it to slip with a shock load, dynamic, nylon cover rope slides easier than a static like the 9mm HTP.

I originally bought two to have one on each side of a lineman’s belt, but when tested it didn’t slip. Might have been they were sharing the load so they didn’t need to slide, or too large of a rope, didn’t go any further with them but went on to the Kisa, which also needs the correct diameter rope to work.

I should clarify I think the Slyde would work well on a tether, linesman’s, or a bridge adjuster. I was hoping it would release easily under full body weight, and they don’t without a lot of effort.

Well, keep one out and give it another chance?
I only climb trees, mostly use a climb line and a lanyard, with both being used for a tether, lineman’s, for ascending and descending. A Sticht hitch does the same as the Slyde, only easier to operate.
I do use the Petzl Adjust, with a different rope, for a second lightweight lanyard for tree work.
Re-evaluating the Camp Swing, definitely needs the rope switched out when using it rotated 180 degrees, this way the device is clipped to the harness, instead of the anchor point and it can be as long as you want.

I should add that when I get it, I'll be using 9.5mm KM-III rope, so it's right down the center of the specs for this device.

My slyde came in a couple hours ago. After playing around with it I still see myself using a duck on LB but this is a totally viable option for me on a tether, especially for its shock load properties.

Oh and it slides way easier on CIV than HTP for whatever reason. I guess the CIV isn’t as stiff.
