Large Platforms

I love me Predator, but I have big feet to go with my big body and sometimes it’s preferable to stand up and turn around to prepare for a shot, staying hidden behind the tree. I got busted by the biggest buck I’d seen all year last season because I couldn’t turn around. Ended up laying out and turning in my saddle and he blew out of there.
I like to stand with my back against the tree a fair amount when in my saddle. Maybe 10-20% of the time. That’s when I think about having a larger platform.

That's a fair assessment. It makes a lot of sense for some hunters.

I'm not hatin'... Just conversatin'

I get it. No hatin’ assumed.
When is that XL going to be available?

I don't think I'm allowed to talk about details like that here. I don't want to break the rules. Sorry... But I'm sure when those exact details are available...you'll know lol.

I like to put two bolts or steps, one on either side of my platform for sitting. I run a strap around my knees so they don’t slide off the tree. The strap takes a lot of the weight off my feet too. Super comfy.

Hey @cspot the Predator XL is free shipping. Tethrd is the only company that offers free shipping with saddles and platforms. Please correct.

Also... I don't really get the big platform craze. I suppose some bigger guys feel like they need it, but I know plenty of bigger hunters that don't.

I've never really been uncomfortable on any platform and I've used them all. The only time I've ever been uncomfortable is on a ROS. And even that is only if it's a long hunt in rubber boots. Solid sole boots make a big difference for me on a ring style platform.

In my opinion it should be about getting more experience with your system than buying bigger and heavier gear. Just my opinion.

At the same time, everyone is different so I suppose there's no right or wrong answer here.

If you like a big platform... Now you have options. Which is something that couldn't be said before 2018.

That's a fair response. I guess my ONLY rebuttal for that is that on all day hunts, it is nice to have a little extra width to "spread out". With that said, I guess I could just put a step on either side of my platform, but then I'm janking around in the tree with a strap with a platform and 2 steps while setting up.

I used a ROS a fair amount and FOR ME the move to the predator was a significant upgrade.

I picked up an Ambush and it pairs and packs extremely well with my LWCG sticks, and it will have it's place on long sits, but for the most part I'll most likely be using my Predator on evening hunts.

My experience in a saddle is that I've always been more comfortable leaning with my feet shoulder width apart. @Nutterbuster did a video once about how he leans ... feet shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent. I lean just like that and it's really comfortable. That said, I hunt a ton of leaning trees so leveling makes thing that much more comfortable. I'm excited for the larger platforms and the .5 stand. The Ambush is the most comfortable platform I've stood on. Video for reference.

Something I just realized about the Ridge Runner XL ... you could put backpack straps on it, fold down the base plate and use it as a meat shelf. @Aksisu11 (Austin from Genesis 3D Printing) is working on 3D printed blocks to be able to attach sticks using the Mule System. Hmm, this may sway me.

For at least a decade of saddle hunting the original assassin has aloud me to shoot my recurve 360 degrees in every direction with the least amount of movement. I've sold or given away every other one I have tried.
I find it refreshing to see some competition now in the platform market!

You betcha man! Getting closer to finalizing them too. If only I could get the XL early to do some product testing
