The Bible tells of "large beasts" that were around with man. Remember in the old testament people lived for hundreds of years (Methuselah 969 years, Noah 950 years aka the "Antediluvian patriarchs") the amount of oxygen in the world was much higher to accommodate huge plants which accommodated huge animals (most likely dinosaurs) so what accommodated the huge plants???? Huge animals that provided larger amounts of carbon dioxide. What happened? THE FLOOD.

Those Ica stones I mentioned earlier have carvings of people riding dinosaurs and doing brain surgery and native people of the congo still today claim a beast lives in the swamp.... When shown pictures of creatures they always pick the dinosaur picture... They are primitive people with no education and link to the outside world... Why would they make something like that up

For you military history buffs, you need to read some of Patrick O'Donnell's http://patrickkodonnell.com/stuff. My favorites are "Washington's Immortals" and "The Unknowns." "The Unknowns" details how the hallowed remains of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were ultimately chosen. General Pershing selected all Medal of Honor recipients from all branches of service at the time from WWI to be the body bearers for the remains. If you don't get a sense of what American Exceptionalism is about after reading this book, I don't know what to tell you. There is nothing exceptional about any of these men, except they made exceptional sacrifices for their fellow men and ultimately, their country. Washington's Immortals is humbling and excellent as well. These stories need to be told. I'm currently reading Plaster's stuff on MACV-SOG during Vietnam. You feel like you're there. Its hard to not cry when you read it but important. Great stuff. Here's the link to his stuff https://ultimatesniper.com/

On that note go listen to any of Jockos podcast about the Vietnam SOG guys, it’s so nuts it doesn’t seem real.

The pronghorn antelope is the last remaining member of the antilocapridae family. There were at least 17 other antilocaprids at some point or another. Some had long spiraling horns, some extremely palmated moose-like horns, and some even had as many as 6 horn cores.
The pronghorn can also run 64 miles per hour. Scientists had no idea why it had to run so gosh darned fast, since nothing else on the continent can touch it. They theorized its speed was due to sexual selection kinda like a turkeys beard or a deers antlers.

Then they unearthed the bones of a frigging hyena that stood 6ft high and is estimated to be able to run around 65mph. Can you imagine a world where a grizzly bear was more like a trash panda than a hulking alpha predator?

North american cheetah and cave lion also.... Our continent used to be probably the scariest place on earth with all our mega predators

I remember following the Rompola story back in 98, off a archery forum. I had only hunted deer 10 yrs in FL then. It is a dam giant for sure. If I remember right didn't he wear a military surplus chemical suit? Same head gear you always saw him in. What I don't get is he had several folks verify.. I'm sure the locals know way more than what was ever printed. J Eberhart is from MI and had hunted from saddles about 10 yrs by then. He must have know him since they were well know I would expect and imagine he would have rushed over to see that monster..
I would love to hear what finally happened..

Im a huge history nerd, i love watching or learning something new from history.
Do any of you have interesting tidbits of lesser known history that you can share?

I too am an amateur history nerd. I have read a ton of books about the Civil War but wanted to get the perspective of the Southern states and found a couple books from that time that give that. The victor usually gets to tell the story and that is what I heard and read in school. The South had a very different perspective of that war.

I also found a book on the history of Russia written before the communist takeover that was really good. The communists re-wrote their history after the take over so it was an eye opener.

Looking at history through that kind of lenses will give a very different perspective on the past.

Jefferson Davis was captured and help in prison for 2 years. A wealthy northerner paid his bail, released, never tried, and eventually pardoned...
Living near Fredericksburg VA, this place is loaded with history....too bad I'm not a history fan. Jeff Davis Hwy is the big road through the area.

History of the little town I grew up near. Original town was taken out by yellow fever and hurricanes. Having lived through several hurricanes myself growing up, actually thought it was really cool the time we stayed at the paper mill that was right on the bay and was able to watch Hurricane Opal beat the town up pretty good from the tops of the boiler stacks! The house I grew up in at St Joe Beach was taken out by the most recent hurricane down there, remains were bulldozed to the curb and the lots sold
