Okay ...polling options above if you're on the forum and Survey Monkey link if you're on tapatalk. Let's give this a shot now.

If you are on the forum, you can vote in the poll above

If you are on tapatalk, you can follow the link to survey monkey (I think) https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CPHFMQW

Feel free to vote in both if you're an overachiever lol.

I think the poll above will only allow you to choose one option, but the survey monkey will allow you to rank the order of preference which provides more detailed information.

Results UPDATE: Bottom Line On Top

FINAL POST / RESULTS:

Couple of points:
  • Votes: Saddle Hunter (115) & Survey Monkey (9) - 124 Total Votes
    • Caveat: Some may have voted twice which could skew results
  • Winner: Para Cord (46.77%) over Retractable (41.13%) by a margin of 5.64%
    • However, when we look more specifically, Para Cord Figure 8 (32.26%) to Doyle's (29.84%), the margin decreases to 2.42%
  • While the simplicity and light weight of para cord barely edged out Doyle's, there is a SIGNIFICANT hidden gem IMO
    • GEM: Given that this is a 'light weight' group, the fact people are willing to carry the extra weight of a Doyle's Hoist speaks volumes. I mean seriously ...the fact that guys who shave their hair, clip their toenails to the cuticle & wear crocks to save weight are willing to pack this hoist speaks volumes :tearsofjoy:
    • To compare further, check out this link: some comments (and supporters) for Doyle's, as well as a video of Taylor discussing the Figure 8 (Post #26 in the thread) https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/gear-hoist-recommendations.14992/
  • What made the 'other' category?
    • 14/0 Treble Hook / Gear Grappler
    • Climb w/it on my back and or Gameplan Crossover Pack
    • Magnet, Allen Retractable, Strapperr
    • Para Cord on Kite Bobbin / daisy chain

Hmmm ...on the forum site, they are at the top of the page. Initially, I had a survey monkey link. Perhaps I should go back to that. I deleted the link once someone directed me to the polling option on the forum. So not a great way to say 'not sure'...

I have added the survey monkey link back for folks on tapatalk (we'll try it) and the polling option is open for those on the forum.

Kentucky bow rope most of the time but also like my Gear Grappler especially for other items I may drop after I'm in the tree.

Very carefully considering it’s a 1500$ custom Centaur longbow I waited a year to be built. I use para with a loop in the end. Go between the limb and string and drop the loop back over the tip then pull tight. Fast easy and secure. No knots to tie in the dark.

Use a Doyles right now and doubt I'll get away from it anytime soon but I'm headed to Co in September and looking to save some oz so I'm gonna try the figure 8 method

Gear Grappler this year. Previously any cheap pull-up rope or Paracord with figure 8. Everything else on my back/saddle and only pull up my weapon. Looking forward to being able to retrieve dropped items now if needed.

Pretty tight race right now between Doyle's and Paracord Figure 8...

I'll look through all the 'other' as well once the month winds down to see if there are other worthy opponents :)

Doyle's. I put markings on it to give me an idea of how high I'm actually hunting. Keeping a log on my phone so at some point I can say, I hunt at an average height of x! I'm a terrible judge of height.

Magnet on bow magnet on pull up paracord pull. No magic just works. Don't get the magnet near your pacemaker no more hunting. Use compass on phone app don't get near regular compass wacky readings. Over.
