I picked up a used Henry 22lr at the gun shop the other day. This is the first lever gun I have ever owned. I’m really impressed with the quality and feel of this rifle and it’s a lot of fun to. Have anyone here owned a lever gun in a big game caliber? I found myself on the Henry website and I see they offer a few.

Had a Henry 45-70. Solid gun, my blind eyes can’t see a semi buckhorn sight warn a darn. Loved the gun bummed I sold it. I wish they still sold the Ghost Ring Version. If I could improve the sights so I could see them better I’d buy another in a heart beat.

Dad just bought a golden boy in 38 spcl/357 mag. It's a joy to shoot with light 38 special loads.

I grew up shooting a browning lever gun in 22 LR that downed a metric ton of squirrels and rabbits. Crisp 3lb trigger. Loved that gun.

I have the Henry .22 as well. Just the basic model H001 I think (loves CCI Std Vel ammo), as well as the Henry .44 Mag.
Also own an older Marlin in .375 Winchester, and a newer 1895 GBL 45-70.
Killed deer with every one of them (except .22)
Usually reach for the GBL when gun season rolls around. The don't go far when hit with one.

If I add a2nd lever to the collection, I’m installing a set of these. I shot a friends set up with these and have wanted a matching rig since

Get a set if ghost ring sights and rail like this. Same as on the SBL.

I bought these to install on my GBL, but went with a scope instead.

Oh yes, I really enjoy my Henry Steel .30-.30. Its taken quite a few deer and I've only had for a few years. I call it my "Meat Gun." I mounted a 2-7 Leupold longer eye relief scope on it. I didn't like the duplex reticle for fast shooting so I paid Leupold $70 and they switched out my reticle to the German Mark IV which is basically a very thick post up and two thick posts for elevation. I like it for quick shooting but I shot a couple of does with it at longer yardages too. IMG_5394.jpg

My favorite gun. I love that little 22. I also need a big game caliber version. I have their single shot 44 mag. Their quality is impeccable and the customer service second to none. I will probably be getting one of their levers in 3030 or 4570
