Someone is going to end up making a bridge from dental floss and strap it to their ol ladies g-string and brag about how lightweight their setup is.

Seriously though, I realize at the core of saddle hunting is the purpose of reducing or minimizing any and all unnecessary weight. And while that may mean different things to different people, it seems like sumayall be looking to cut weight at the expense of comfort and safety too.

I am all about comfort. I use a LWCG .5 instead of a tiny platform these days. I used to use nothing, just leaned my feet against the tree some seasons, leaned my feet on a ring and steps on other set ups, WHICH I hated, and other years only had one step to lean on, ALL far from comfortable I found. All about comfort for sure now.

As far as safety, I spelled it out in my original post that it needed to be properly tested by the authorities before I’d use it, SO I'm far far FAAAAR from being careless about safety. IN FACT, I'm obsessed with safety. So there you go.

This is True...but there are far more members who couldnt even feel safe swaddled up in thier mothers arms as a child.

I think you missed the intent of my post. I’m saying guys are so obsessed with weight that they are cutting it themselves at the expense of safety.
You’re looking for the lightest safe saddle you can find. Cool. Do it. I think it’s pretty much pointless since I can’t feel my saddle anyway as it becomes part of my body weight once I put it on. But that’s my opinion. Sacrificing features and comfort is just a fact though.

Mini drey would probably be great with a rock climbing harness

This is the best of all worlds that I've found. I use a RCH without lineman loops and it's fine. I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to a Tactisaddle treestand harness and be done with it.
The Drey kills every saddle in weight and comfort COMBINED. The others just don't have all of the options in regards to support.... you can wear it full, folded, etc. Just a great concept when combined with a nice harness.

The Treehopper Recon is pretty light and really comfortable. I heard its actually really uncomfortable but the TX5 Minimalist is lightweight too.

Recon=1lb 5oz (MADhunts spreadsheet, page 1 post #12)
Minimalist=1.4lbs (Michigan Great Outdoors photo, page 2 post #37)
