Lightweight Barren ridge platform

it looks like a sponge paint job, so i would just buy the black and sponge paint as i wanted with whatever pattern and colors i liked
Have you reached out to them about the hole? Curious how their customer service is

Their customer service is just about instantly responsive. I had a problem with mine lining up, I got hold of them, they sent out a replacement that showed up in a couple of days. That one worked very nicely.

I used it yesterday to see if it is a catch and release or keeper. Happy to report, that for me, it's a keeper. I used it without the foot strap and just utilized the cross-bar to lift the platform; I tried the strap but immediately knew that it wasn't for me. The crossbar worked perfectly for me as I don't want my foot attached during the climb. I will mod a few things like paint job and pin silencing but all-in-all I am satisfied with this platform. I did apply side pressure and there was no movement from the platform.

Definitely keeping mine too. I'm thinking about putting a stiff piece on it that will allow me to easily slip my foot in and out to lift it without the concern of it being attached. Any ideas on what will work? Might be as simple as shrink wrap material or aquarium tubing on the existing boot strap to stiffen it. I know that there's at least one platform that sells something specifically made for this? Like this? https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/summit-rapid-climb-stirrups or (cheaper here) https://www.mackspw.com/Summit-RapidClimbTreestand-Stirrups

Any thoughts?

How much side pressure are you fellows able to apply to it?

Define side pressure? While supported by my tether, I stomped pretty good (didn't bounce) on all sides of the platform. No movement when it was fully set. In fairness, I'm kinda small. No idea if a big heavy guy could shift it that way.

Are you able to apply side pressure enough to facilitate a shot around the tree? I appreciate the teeth on the edges on the predator platform and the ability to do more than stand on it as a platform. I'm not a big guy either so its just wether or not the platforms design will make it possible.

Never had an opportunity at a shot, and I had a rifle rather than a bow. But yes, I felt comfortable standing on any part of the platform with both feet. Size 8 boots. I did not attempt to kick off from the side of the platform if that's what you're asking. It bit and set very solidly.

FWIW, I was able to simulate both weak side and strong side shots while standing on the tops of the arms with no discernible slipping and it remained rock solid. I did have the attached strap around the tree at the time

Thank you, that was my initial thoughts of a disadvantage.

I bought one and although I haven't tested it out completely,I really like it after a couple of modifications. After I get some more time with it and have the time,I'll do an in depth review. So far,it was worth it to me and I love my ultimate one stick.

Got this today from a user off of here. I absolutely love it. I put it right on a tree and climbed up to 15 feet easy in probably under 4 minutes. I can clearly climb higher but that’s about as high as I could go up the tree in my yard. When I got there I put the strap around the tree which I thought would be a pain but it wasn’t at all. I put all my weight on the side and bounced. Didn’t budge. For certain situations this thing is flawless. I don’t like all the pins. I will find someone who can weld this for me. Folding it up doesn’t make much of a difference for me anyways. Stealth strips or some kind of silencer is a must. Not that its like super loud or anything but with the buckle strap and pins I’ll just be better off that way. Climbing the tree hardly makes a noise at all. I hated my viper because I felt it made so much noise getting up and down the tree. The last thing I will say is how light this thing is. It certainly beats 3 sticks and a predator platform in that aspect. I do understand that you can’t get in those gnarly trees with it but I can find enough use to keep it around. Hope this helps those who are interested!

I ordered one 11/12/21. Someone posted a video on it and when I saw it I jumped on it. I love my LWHC but it's not made for what we use it for so they are breaking on people. The Ascent 2 looks pretty awesome, it's made and tested for saddle hunting so before they go the way of the ropeman and safeguard I figured I would grab one.
Whats going on with ropeman and safeguard?(out of the loop lately)

That's basically my assessment. My only complaint was dealing with the top pins but that's an easy fix.I think they should just make that an option when you buy it.It won't work in every tree but where it works,it works very well.
