Update to this post. My brother sent me this picture yesterday. My nephew was hanging a stand and found this dead head in a ravine not terribly far from where we found last blood. Can’t say with 100% certainty that it’s him but the antlers are in good shape so it must have been from this past season. So most likely it’s him. Sucks the meat went to the coyotes.

Just ordered a Pac Seat. Have been looking at them for like a year now. Of course I wait two weeks before season to order. Thinking I can just keep my saddle setup in my pack if I find a good tree. Otherwise setup on the ground.

I plan to do some ground hunting this season out my new Pac Seat. I set up a couple of spots a couple of weeks back near some red oaks. I can see it being particularly beneficial early season when it is 100 degrees in the afternoon, and I don't want to climb. Also, I think I will get more action on the ground since I think the deer are bedding up very close to the food sources and I am convinced they sometimes spot or hear me climbing to hunt.
