Live from the saddle 2020

Hunting just off wind of a very fresh rub line. Decided to setup a few yards off an old logging trail I think the deer are traveling. Came into this one blind because of a S wind ahead of a cold front kind of shifting my plans to here. But I’m finding plenty of fresh sign to make a few more hunts out of this area if I don’t come away with one today. These 15-20 mph wind gusts are something else from a saddle. In my old climber I’d be getting rocked to sleep. For my 1st windy saddle hunt I feel like I’m hanging on for dear life although I know it’s really not that bad. Just some new movements to get used to.

Saddle up in the thickest I can find for an after work sit today. They won’t come to the open woods so I came into their house. Could only get about 12’ in an old twisted oak but if they walk by I have good cover and a few narrow lanes 6E5A7711-54A6-47D0-8E20-2BCF3E57AFCB.jpeg

Well, I'm sick...follow up shot after hitting a branch on my first (doe). Perfect broadside shot 2nd chance. Nothin but gut. Should have paused...should have picked a spot. I knew it was bad when my fingers relaxed...just stupid.

Play your cards right and you will find her. Best of luck to you.

I went out for the last hour and a half today..No luck..I was gonna DRT climb and hit the tight crotch on my first attempt. I felt professional, until i tried pulling my rope through and couldn't because it was so tight. My throwline kept catching. Luckily i also no stick climb and could get up there to free my throwline. I wasn't sure rappelling was going to work with that tight of a crotch but the predator rope is awesome. No crotch is too tight for that.
You know the hunt was a bust when all you have to report are climbing struggles. Better luck tomorrow i hope...
