3 does came in about 45 mins before legal and bedded. They got run off by coyotes. This young guy came through right at sunrise hot on their trail. Still got a few feeling a little frisky here in MD on this cold morning.

@gcr0003 please keep us updated on the deer and your car. I'm really frustrated to read of this for you brother!!!
No joy on the deer, tracked 700 yards straight line on the edge of the swamp to private. Call to get permission but tracker says it’s probably a intestine shot since he went so far. No joy on the car either, the replacement cost of the cats is as much as the car is worth. It sucks becuase the car is worth a lot more to me then the kbb value. Real crummy,

Man that sucks on both accounts. I've heard that hypothetically someone could run a straight pipe out and not replace the catalytic converter...hypothetically. You might hypothetically have a engine sensor light come on by doing this...possibly.

This is what I'd do. The converter is just for environmental compliance anyway. Probably get better power and cooler running engine with the straight pipe.

Just after daylight, 10-15 degree increase since weekend with snow on the ground still: One herd of 8+ does came in, I drew and one got spooked so they trotted off then INSTANTLY another dozen or more came from another direction and putted around maybe 40-50 yds away. Then a stud came chasing them, offered me a shot at 25 but he only had one antler, a bloody pedicle where the left one used to be, and was actively trying to remove the right one on branches and brush so I let him be. Then ANOTHER absolute beast came from the opposite direction and bedded 20 yds from my tree in thick brush. Then ANOTHER few does came from another direction, caught his attention, and dragged themselves away from him with him close behind. Then ANOTHER half-dozen deer came from upwind but the only one that offered a shot was a button buck at 10. I didn’t shoot him. Then there was a decent buck in the field at like 90. Freaking COVERED up in deer for like 15-20 minutes. And zero shots taken lol.
A few minutes later, that buck from the field came almost to me, not huge but big enough to grab my bow, then he brought a very heavy mature buck with him, who moseyed right into my shooting lane at 20, turned his head…and revealed a bloody forehead and a missing right antler.
Little buck didn’t stick around long, big boy hung out for 10m doing absolutely nothing while I marveled at my “luck” of getting opportunities at two mature bucks and seeing 30+ deer from a tree I thought was burnt out.

Haha! You saw more deer in that one sit than I saw all season.

Long walk back in here down a snowmobile trail then a few hundred yards of knee deep snow. Theres good sign though. Hopefully something walks by. I have to admit though I'm a little nervous about the hike out on that trail. Those sleds are cruising with limited visibility thru a wet helmet faceshield.

I would definitely be rocking my 2 headlamps, one on my 12 and one on my 6, on the walk out then.

HOLY CRAP I JUST SHOT A MONSTER FROM THIS TREE 24 HOURS LATER, AND HE STILL HAD BOTH ANTLERS.
