LIVE from the saddle 2023

Ole @Kenbama was out there hunting by me but he got scared off once he figured out the flintlock army was out in full force and he wasn’t wearing enough orange lol:tearsofjoy:. We had a good time. Look forward to getting out there and sharing hunts with him in the future. He’s a good fella if any of yall Kentucky or Alabama folks run into him.
Great hunt enjoyed the company. @gcr0003 is spot on. Flintlock army was fully engaged. Some of the hunters were set up on the road. Looked like they were hunting for bicycle riders. I was out of there.

Glass bottle in the woods, my grampy would shake a fist at ya lol. I like what you're doing with the phone holder, have you taken a shot with the phone strapped in there by chance?
Ha! No it's a plastic bottle. As far as the phone holder, only took it out during gun season and it did fine.

Ah I wasn't aware that fancy water was in plastic as well lol I should have known the shade was unwarranted. And as for the phone, I am reconsidering, it needs to spend more time in my pocket, not in front of my face. And yes.. the irony of typing this out on my phone...lol

Yeah I gotcha. Actually put it there so I can put my hands in my pocket! Nothing more irritating than having it go off in my pocket and me not being able to quickly identify who it was. Anybody other than my wife or hunting buddy need not expect a reply while I'm in the woods.

First sit of the new year is my annual birthday hunt. Unfortunately, now on back-to-back hunts the deer have changed their patterns on the morning I’m hunting. Been coming through this spot between 7:20-8:30. Gets light at 7 and I was up and settled by 6:15. 6:20 here they all come parading under the tree in the dark. One of these birthdays I’ll get it done but it doesn’t seem like it’ll be today. Sure beats the heck out oof work though. Rain rolling in around 11 so I’ll probably give it another hour before packing up.

The deer must change their clocks on January 1st. Guess you didn't get that memo.

second sit of the day, and what a day it’s been. First sit, got busted by a nice buck for not checking around me before I moved. When I rappelled down, I realized I never took my tether locker off the tree, had to climb back up to get my ropes down.

drove 40 min North, walking down the hill to the woods I slipped and and am now covered in mud. As I stepped onto my third stick I dropped my fourth….back down the tree I go. Get my platform and pack set, go toto tow my bow up……somehow that came unclipped as well…….back down the tree I go. Climb back up and all seems to be ok now…..I hope all the suffering leads to a shot opportunity.

that would explain so much, I thinks it’s more being out of the saddle for about 7 weeks.

Oddly enough the stick and tow line have never fallen off on me in the three years I’ve been mobile.
