Shifting winds, leaning tree and squirrels

Evening sit. Hopefully one of the shooters comes up along this drainage. Nice rub on it. Only 2 sticks plus a 3 step aider high. Wind was good until now it’s starting to shift.

I'm live from the saddle/stand. I struggled with my preset line this morning. To much angle on the tree limb and I couldn't get my rope thru. So dropped back a few yards to the tree stand I set for the kids. Not saddle friendly. So I'm in the seat, but still tethered in. Big doe got nervous before she could give me a good shot. Few small bucks, and some turkeys. All went under the tree I wanted to be in.. Screenshot_20231002-080356-445.png

Opening day sit!! 95 degrees but the mosquitos weren't terrible. Only thing notable I saw was a 24" pileated woodpecker. That guy was wearing the tree out!!

First sit - opener! Cool and breezy for SE LA - maybe 86F? Two hogs came to 10 and 8 yards but no deer. Acorns everywhere but they must be on browse patterns still. I was situated around 4-5 champion water oaks dropping along a slough bordered by thickets on both sides. Was a pain getting out in the dark!

Full ScentLok. Even the lightweight stuff is pretty heavy compared to non-ScentLok gear. Wind made it bearable once I was settled in.

We don't have fall in Louisiana, we only have (2) seasons: Summer and Not-Summer. :D
