Lone Wolf Custom Gear Kuhnert Ambush Bent bolt/Fix

Call and leave a message. I just spoke with Andre directly. He was extremely apologetic and helpful and said I will have a return label on the way shortly. He was very patient with me, as I am exhausted after being up 22 hrs straight with a sick kid and unable to speak straight. He did mention they are NOT happy with their manufacturer and are in the process of switching to a new one because of quality issues. Extremely pleasant to talk with, and assuming everything gets squared away here without issue, I will keep my eyes out for a "gen 2" ambush in the future and give it some serious thought.
Just an update for those trying to return as i am: I now have a return label from LWCG as promised by Andre.

I too like throwing $300 in the garbage

Right... They don’t have a history of making garbage but rather setting standards... This was disappointing.

Yeah I understand. I’m generally try not to tell people how to spend their money. I just know that I would not of modified mine and would’ve sent it back and either exchange it or asked for a refund.

Hate to see you get burned if I’m being truthful. Also think it sends wrong message to the company if you keep it knowing it’s faulty. I know they are sending out replacements but also seems like easily preventable mistakes.

Just got mine delivered to my office ... I'm debating on either fixing the issue or returning it. Versa bolt drilled off-centered ... adjustment bolt drilled off-centered and the post is not centered so it rubs on the platform which is causing the coating to come off. I have a G1 (back up) and G2 predator... Sold my RR to aid in purchasing this bad boy. Very disappointed to say the least.

So I didn't really closely examine mine upon unboxing. However, I did take note that when I fold and unfold the platform, one of the bushings / washers between platform & post is kind of "hogged up". I'll more closely examine later, if either the leveling bolt or the versa button are off center, it's going back. That, my friends, is the definition of shoddy manufacturing. I can accept this bolt issue and replacement, but not holes drilled off center. Did they not use a drill press?

It’s not my money.... but I think people need to speak up. I feel people are rushing and trying to capitalize on things at the moment and I can’t take it... it sucked waiting for my Kestrel when Aero did pre orders years ago... then it happened with beast sticks... but I can say they both pulled through and it was well worth the wait!

Following up on this, multiple bolts off center, and it appears the post pivot hole slightly off, this is going back. If they want to be the standard, this certainly isn't it. I wouldn't even expect this sloppiness from a Wal-Mart stand.

I am shocked that they would accept this from the company, and even more shocked they would send these out. Now if they want to unload these poorly made ones for half price, I am in.
And they have to have more of these in production... Are they gonna continue to ship them?

When I talk to them, I'll tell them the same. At the price point I paid, I can't accept what I received. If they want to adjust their price point, perhaps I'll reconsider.

That’s what I’m talking about. 60% off factory seconds and I’m in. Isn’t this how xop got it’s start? Reselling lone wolf rejects? I thought this ambush might kill the value of the used assassin. Wrong. At least not yet. If anything the assassin is starting to look like a good value. I’m sure they will get it worked out but I’m with you on not believing they accepted delivery and sent them out. There was no rush, no preorder. They hadn’t taken anyone’s money, season had already started for most people. I don’t get it. Surely they opened at least one or two and inspected it unless it’s being drop shipped directly from the manufacturer. I’m all for American made but fell a child laborer in a dimly lit Chinese sweatshop would have done a better job drilling.

The folks who have talked with Andrae say he expressed lack of content with the manufacturer. I highly doubt the folks who designed the platform had hands on them. They were most likely sent a good sample, played with it, and said, "ok, looks good" and had them drop shipped.

Highly doubt they were packing them up by hand in their basement. It sucks that the QC isnt there, but it doesn't shock me. They've screwed up, but at least they're saying they screwed up.

It’s great that they seem to be taking care of everyone. I’m interested in hearing more from the guys that got perfect or near perfect platforms and how they are performing.

I’m shocked that we are not hearing more from folks who have had the sticks or hangons for a while especially with the same bolt they’re using! I would bet they’re quite a few that are bent considering you have to set your sticks -inducing the same types of pressure.

I do not think you put the same amount of pressure on the sticks as you do when you cam over the platform. Actually I would say not even close. And with the sticks you can not over tighten the strap like you can when you are camming it trying to get it super tight.

Mine seems fine with the exception of a crooked versabutton. I've put it on 3 or 4 trees, and like it more than I liked the predator. Bigger is better for me with platforms apparently. With the predator my feet were always mushed together and I had to use the edge of the platform all the time. With this one I can spread my feet naturally and actually walk around on the surface of the platform.

It packs on my back awesome. Really looking forward to putting the minis on it. That, a fanny pack, the tactisaddle, and the hickory creek might be super awesome.

I think that because it's so wide, it's inevitable that you're going to get some flex and movement if you shift your weight from side to side. This can cause it to make a little noise as the teeth move on the bark. Not a huge fan of this, but I think it might get better as I get better at camming it. Maybe?

I know for me it's still easier to bow up on an OCB on a ROA than it is to cam over a platform just right.

I really like the sandy grip on the top of the platform. Even with wet rubber boots, there's no feeling that you'll slip or slide.

Like the predator, if you put pressure wrong on the platform's toothy side, you can uncam it. It's a little easier on the bigger platform because theres more material to leverage.

Overall, I'm still kinda in the "curious" stage. If I like the profile of sticks on it, and can easily strap heavy clothes to it while keeping my normal gear and Doyle's hoist in a fanny pack, then I see using it. Some days it'd be nice to just throw 4 sticks up, cam the platform, and lean back a while to give my drilling arms and saddle butt a rest.

If I could change anything, I'd make it maybe 3" shorter (closer to tree) and stiffen it up to eliminate side to side play.

Sounds like you might wanna try the ridge runner. although I expect the packability is less the size is in the neighborhood.

I will give mine a good workout this weekend, I got lucky mine is centered & doesn’t seem to have issues with tolerances...... I’m gonna give it 290lbs & see how it responds!

Maybe. I'm not a fan of how it cams over, but I think the shape and size is about right.

I really think LWCG was smart to send backpack straps with it. Maybe that's what the $20 increase was? I know personally, putting the straps on and putting it on my back was an "aha" moment. I'm really thinking that LWCG might have made sticks and a platform finally "make sense" for a saddle hunter. Everything else I've seen is just too much to try and pack in a backpack.
