If XOP/LWCG can get the climbing platform to around $200 and somehow address the side pressure issue. I'm 90% sure I'm going to get one.

Here is my climbing base in the Popup 28. (can't pm images so posting here). Carries great, I feel very little of the weight of the platform. I didn't make any adjustments to the load lift height (it's set for the .5.) nor did I route straps through the platform. Just dropped it in, cinched the straps, and was good to go.

In searching the net, I think the best idea currently out there is cutting down the platform of the lone wolf climber and using that. Some of the pluses are larger size, it's already designed for climbing, and decreased weight. And in the video I watched, it seems to be pretty stable. I'm really surprised that some of the saddle/treestand companies haven't came out with something. It seems it would be the best solution for being mobile.

I looked at that and had the same concerns you did. Plus climbing with just one foot on the platform seemed sketchy to me.

Thanks. That looks really tempting. I've been kicking around a 28 for a bit. Looks like it'd be great for packing the handclimber or my sticks or a hang-on if that ever became necessary.
Do you think the pack could handle the climber bottom and deer quarters? I suppose worst case I use the shelf for quarters and just carry the climber out in my hand.
The platform doesn't take up much room in the shelf. I think it is very possible to pack meat and the stand. How much probably depends a lot on the strength of the hunter and the size of the deer.
The one catch is you probably won't run the load shelf as high with the stand as you might without.
If you can pack your weapon, I suppose carrying the climber bottom would be about as heavy as a medium weight rifle setup.
But I'd try the the shelf, personally.

Well, sorta... I’ve just begun my build of a climber-saddle hunting platform that will perform better than the LWHC method for me (I hope). Essentially, it’s a climber with some cam action for stability. I cut down a Lone Wolf Sit and Climb platform. I still need to grind the cut ends smooth...

The biggest thing that keeps pulling me back to my lw assault or hand climber is how much easier and faster it is to climb, vs with tether and saddle. I think hybrid is best for me, where I use my saddle to hunt off the climber. It allows a best of both worlds and ability to sit with a bit more weight of course. I like to rappel and want to experiment with putting bottom section on my back at height to allow rappel with this method.

No. They are making a machined climbing platform similarly sized (and designed) to the LWHC top. It improves on the LWHC top in that it has a stabilizer system to support the arms.
Hopefully they'll soon let us see how it attaches to one's feet.
I hope so. That was my favorite and fastst climbing methods. I only sold it because I couldn't get replacement traction belts, and now I see that lone wolfs new climbing stand traction belts will work for the old hand climbers. Kickin' myself right in the arse for selling it now.

No.Their saddle platform is much bigger than a LW handclimber top.The only thing I see that they need to do is make the angle of the arms steeper.
I would prefer that the arms offered enough room to slide feet under for climbing, like the base. Or a solid stirrup.
Also, I'd like a security strap post, though others who prefer to walk the tree don't. I can think of a few ways XOP could design this.
