There are ways to get around branches but yes if you have to climb a tree with a lot branches it’s a poor choice. It may be where I live but I always find the right tree for my climber.

Lol, okccj we are saying the same thing only a little different.

lot of pines where I hunt with small strips of oaks. Not too hard to find a pine to climb and typically the lower branches will break off or have already rotted off once the tree has gotten tall enough.

I think I'm still gonna modify that top piece from the "Sit n Climb" and see what I can come up with. I would like to have two of these climbers anyway to leave one at the camp and have one at home incase an opportune trip pops up I don't have to drive 3 hours to go get my only one.

Sad_story mod ... JB-Weld for the win!

Sent from my SM-N976V using Tapatalk

Both sides of mine “popped” off. Also had a fellow send me a PM that his came off and the factory edge didn’t stop the arm. Luckily he was tethered in. Careful out there fellows. Now back to hunting trees

Damn, jesus, sorry to hear that, and even sorrier that I've given dangerous/ bad advice.

I havent any issues, since I did it, but yes, please please be careful and IF you have done the mod please please test thoroughly.

Acrually - Better yet, DO NOT DO THIS MOD at all - if only one fails, thats enough reason not to do it...

I put a ropeman1 on my oplux over the annoying beal jammy. It felt good to be back with a RM1 while ascending with hand climber. It still took about 30mins to climb 18ft. I also had my hand climber fall about 12 inches again with the bolt mods while just standing there. I cut my wrist pretty good. I was in a white oak. I just can not get this thing sturdy at all. I thought maybe hardwood would be better. If you try and apply any side pressure, the whole thing tips to the side making a ton of noise and sometimes dropping as well.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your LWHC. Did you try it without the mod yet? The only time mine has dropped is when I intentionally make it fall. I did the 50 degree bolt mod and didn't like it so I did the plastic metal mod at 40 degrees it's better but I still prefer it stock. I've had it in smooth bark beech trees without issue. I hope you figure it out. I think it's the best climbing/platform system out there.

Will removing the bolts and having holes be any concern? Also, what is the best strap for making this thing rock solid once at hunting height? I would like to get something in store today for this evenings hunt.

The holes shouldn't be an issue. As far as a strap I don't think you would need much. A ratchet strap will work they are noisy though and I wouldn't crank down on it. Good luck this evening!

Thanks. I changed my 2 foot loops to one and tied webbing to it as tether and pull up loop assist. It is easy enough to slide to one side of the foot strap and still clip the other side to platform for a step aider. Im gonna clip the platform tether to my tree tether to prevent it from swaying in the wind when I move for shot. Im gonna try a cam buckle that came with my heliums I dont use for the platform cinch strap.

I'm thinking about mounting to bolts on each side of the platform and use a LW strap on it. Has this been done before?

Changed out my foot-loops to a single as well. Also added a bungee cord that I run between my feet, behind my heels then back to the strap. Stays rock solid on the feets. Was messing around in the yard and forgot my pull up cord, slipped off me feet . Ash tree does not equal fireman’s pole...especially in shorts.

Now all you need is to mod it so it can be used as a predator platform on days you dont need the band and days you need your sticks. And sell your predator to me for cheap. Hahaha

I dont think you really need the bungee behind your feet. My single strap is just long enough to fit my rubber boots underneath and its solid. I still have a lot of other issue though.
