Lonewolf Custom's Ambush

Given history the will be some oversell and some will not get in on the 150. The price is keeping folks away. But there are people paying 400 plus for a assassin.
Working in the online retailer world, it would be sad and misleading if they just didn't set their inventory level to 150...

Me too. I like the idea of wider platform. The predator was kinda narrow to me. And a stouter design might lock onto the tree better? We'll see.
It's a narrow target to hit. Big enough to be worthwhile, small enough to be a winning packability option. At some point it's just a treestand with no seat. At another point why not just bring the jx3?

The biggest draw back about sticks IMO is packing them in. different conversation for a different thread though. Hope the ambush lives up to the hype.

To me the minis are just big enough and easier than my beast sticks to pack. I have only been using the minis with the stand to this point though and not when saddle hunting due to the single step. I took a tape measure to my minis. With a movable aider I was up 19 ft. Stand was at 20ft.

Very true. It only weighs a little less than my windwaker(5.75lbs), but I"m goingto assume it holds side pressure better.

I agree. The jx3 means you can sit all day on 2 bolts or screw in steps and be perfectly comfortable. And you know what a big weight weenie I am.

I honestly don't know why I'm buying it, other than just to see it for myself in person. No real risk to buying I'm assuming, since I actually made a few bucks selling the LWCG sticks I tried.

I hope it does. I thinking this platform will hold all my stuff and no need for a pack. Just put stuff in pockets and sticks on back. I thinking about 13-14 pounds on back instead of 18-22.

So what - 4.5 pounds or so lighter than a jx3? But you need to fit a comfortable pack into that, plus a saddle, etc. (But can leave the steps/bolts behind).

I sorta feel like it's gonna end up heavier, chunkier, less comfortable than a jx3. And honestly this makes me wanna play with a jx3 (or diy something similar) more than a jumbo platform.

My thoughts are you could put straps on the platform. Carry the sticks on it. Everything else I need could go in a fanny pack.

I like my JX3. I like my gutted kite. I like my trophyline. I like my 6lb bag of squirrel steps. I like my 1lb of bolts and treehopper drill.

Just trying new things for the sake of experiencing them, I guess.

I'm trying to find a somewhat universal solution for all weather and situations. There might be a little compromise in each measure(weight, packability, etc) but I know what I like finally. I'm trying to build that grab and go no thought setup.

I've got a bit more "hunted with it less than twice and don't see myself using it" stuff than I should. Trying new stuff is fun - I just need to be better at moving it out the door... heck that's why I kinda wanna try a jx3. I'll be interested to see what you think of the ambush. The niche it needs to fit looks pretty tight, from the outside.

I hear ya. I'll say this. If it was $100 cheaper, I think you'd see folks kicking down the door for them. Predator is 3+ lbs after they beefed it up. What's 2lbs more for a wider, sturdier platform? If it was small for me at 5'10" and a size 11 shoe, there's plenty of folks out there that would jump on a bigger platform.

I plan on attaching a small pack to the Ambush. Kind of like what I did with the predator pack. So Ambush on the back with the mini's sandwiched between the Ambush and the small pack.

I can see myself potentially letting my windwalker go if this lives up to what I"m thinking. I could match it up with a torges seat if I ever wanted to and essentially have a treestand that is light and packs totally flat, and I can adjust the seat height on.
