Lonewolf Custom's Ambush

A treestand company cant afford to bottom out its main product line but can gouge a small niche market and get away with it. Look l love LW treeStands for certain hunting applications. I'm just not going to fuel their make believe saddle expertise at this pricepoint.
And I suspect they wont fool too many guys here either

Was in a pool room in the seventies, two guys were playing 6 ball ($100 a game) and one was down $1500, lost again, threw down another 100 dollar bill and said IT'S ONLY MONEY and racked them up again. This platform will last longer than we will so throw another 20 on the table, IT;S ONLY MONEY.

I tend to agree with that philosophy. Maybe I'll bite. Heck, I tried their sticks! But even $280 was a chunk of change. At some point, you gotta call the bluff.

Other than the presumed packability of the mini sticks on the Ambush, what is the advantage of this platform over an OOL Podium or Ridge Runner? It looks like it will be heavier and two or more times the price. Is stick packability worth that?

All three offer a wide and sturdy platform.

Just food for thought. I am not affiliated with either, or any other company, so no incentives at work here. Just a guy without unlimited resources looking at comparable products.

If you already have the sticks or plan to buy them, then perhaps the bag saving packability is worth it to you. Hefty overall price to pay though when less than $250 gets you Heliums and a Podium. I guess some buy high priced bows, etc., so what is the difference, right?

While I agree that $300 is a lot of money, and they're probably only charging that because they know they can exploit the market, I wouldn't call the expertise make believe. Andre and Cody have had little hand in the design of the platform. That's all been done by Brad Kuhnert, who's been hunting from a saddle since the '80s. My impression has been that Andre has provided some technical and manufacturing input, but he is not at all the spearhead of the project.

It's alot of money .I will buy one but it's probably the only lonewolf product I will buy. If out on a limb came out and said they are making a larger one I would probably hold out for that one.

He really doesn't hunt out of a saddle...its more of a waist band, but like you love Andraes desugn input no matter what...good discussion on the Ambush and there should be

Here I thought $150-180 was crazy for the current platforms. When comparatively a decent hang on is the same price. For the price of an Ambush one could get close to a full saddle setup. But it's not my money.

No, it's not a saddle at all. He calls it a 'sling'. I think the purpose of his system is the same as a saddle. But, you can't sit in his 'sling' - likely the reason for a bigger platform.

I also think Andre and Cody realized that the original Assassins (designed by Brad) were currently selling for $400+, and they wanted to take advantage of that.

Well, just my point...nobody here is slinging 360° around a tree on a waist band...not unless your one of the flying Valindas from the 50's

I'm agreeing with you. It's not a saddle at all. My only point was that Brad's platform is not just an attempt to exploit a current opportunity. He's been living the mobile, 'semi-saddle' life for decades.

I think $300 is a lot of money to have to spend on one of these, but I also think there is definitely a market and people will pay it because there is no other platform that size available now. There are a lot of guys who want a larger platform to stand on. Just not me :)

I believe the predator plateform is just the right size for us saddle hunters. Otherwise just call the other a slingin plateform

I've hunted from the Assassin platform for years and compared to my Predator, well, there're levels in this game...

Anybody know whats going on with the ambush? Lwcg said they would give details last wk but nothing so far
