LWCG The Fix

Ok so I am more of a ROS guy. I’ve bought and tried platforms but usually there is something I don’t like about them… I tried the hawk tree seat back in the day for a platform. It was big and heavy, couldn’t handle side pressure at all without a second lower strap on it, I ended up keeping it in the tree at the house for practice shooting… Then tried the Predator platform and I thought that was gonna be my end all go to. It is still the lightest most packable platform I have ever used. It was pretty good on side pressure but no matter what I did, the top bracket never stayed against the tree and it flexed a lot and on some trees kicked out when side loaded. Less than one season on it, it cracked where the adjuster screw was so I retired it. My wife still uses hers and loves it. Then I tried the ambush. It was huge. It cam’d over really tight but the teeth were a pain and it flexed a lot. Then I got a ridge runner from someone on here. It was large like the hawk seat but pretty light. Camming it was a little different but once you weight it, it stayed in there tree really really well. It didn’t pack down all that great and honestly I wish it was a little deeper (size 14 shoe). Overall it’s been my go to on the hunts where I actually take a platform instead of my squirrel steps… I bought the fix just to try it out since the size and listed weight was definitely in the range I wanted. It packs down very very well. I’m 225 and it handled side pressure from me better than any platform I have ever used. The edges aren’t rounded but they are not sharp either. It has done zero damage to my strap and I wrapped it and walked half a mile before we found the tree we ended up playing in. The top bracket stays against the tree even when I lean outward on an extreme angle. The hook is perfect to hang from the rear mollie of my saddle and that’s how I walked out to the tree (wearing it the whole time). The post is tight enough that it takes deliberate action to pull it open. I can’t speak to the integrated steps because I don’t have them however the little slanted step on the post is perfect to use for pivoting. This platform has changed my mind about platform use (although I’ll still be adding a couple slotted squirrel steps to my set up for weak side shots to walk the tree). I can’t wait for this season to really put in the hours on it. Oh and did I mention how awesome it looks? The fix for the win!

Do you have enough room to pivot on the platform for a weakside shot? Looks like it would be tight for you to make that turn.

Well that was fun, pulled the trigger. First formal platform and new from mfg piece of gear to date. Can’t wait!

I could make that turn on the platform and shoot weak side standing straight up, but it would be tight due to the size of my feet however I don’t do the stand up bow under the tether and twist stuff. I much prefer a couple of squirrel steps to walk the tree around for my shot

I'm wearing 13s. For lack of time, I've only been on mine in running shoes. I could make the turn pretty easily. You have to mind the post, which isn't a concern for me with my rrXL. Still, I was surprised at how doable it was. I'd still prefer the platform few inches longer; that's not to take away from this platform's capability. It's just my preference.

Arrived already! I think this thing looks too cool

I climbedp up to about 10 ft and put it on the tree. It locked in really well and stayed put when I put pressure on and let off. It handled side pressure really well to, maybe not as good as my stick with a scout though. I can see why folks enjoy their platforms so much, lots of room to move around on. Standing up on the platform is easy to do to so I’m sure that comes in handy on long hunts to stretch the legs and give the saddle a little break. The bracket where the post pivots is stiff, but I think that’s intended. I don’t know if their adjustment method has been used elsewhere by other company’s but it’s very simple but solid design. All and all this thing looks and feels great. It does feel a tad heavy but that’s only relative to my smaller set ups. I’m not sure if I’ll keep it long term one way or another but I think it’ll make a great platform

Wonder if they will ever just machine a boat type cleat in the post and get rid of the cam buckle? Very nice looking platform though.
I’m not sure if they can now, I think someone patented it although I know guys who were bolting aluminum boat cleats on to platform and sticks long before that attachment method was patent pending. It’s definitely a quick secure way to strap your stand to the tree though

I didnt realize someone had applied for patent on that. I guess they could just machine in 2 of their strap post, you in case someone wants to have a back up strap wink, wink.

Just got mine the other day, having a time trying to cam it over secure to the tree anyone got some pointers,I could use the info/help

There’s a video online, but to sum up, it’s pull up and cam, not pull down and cam
