Michigan '24

I'd love to attend depending on location, day, time, etc. I have not been able to make the last few due to family, work, etc... I know I have to get my priorities straight.

@Chrighton and @sureshotscott , please speak up on what would work better for you guys. If you know what would work better. Is early May in central Michigan workable?

Still wide open here, I'd love the feed back, not just from you guys but everyone feel free to chime in on this.

It's a balancing act for everyone and I know not everyone can/ will make it. Let's try to get all of us we can together though, it's always fun and the more the merrier

Obviously turkey season draws haven't been finalized yet but I'm anticipating the first couple weekends of May would be best for me.

Anyone been thru the maple river area state north of Lansing? Location with some climbable trees, and parking for 10-15 cars?

I've driven by maple river but never did get out and check it out. On Bliss road it was flooded last year, but I think there was dry ground on the north edge there. I'm unsure about parking but I could scope it out

Hadley-metamora rec area is nice. Lots of parking and good mature treats with pavilion and bathrooms.

Camping on one side of the lake. That you can fish in if your so inclined. South of Lapeer, MI I mean.

Holly rec area would be similar. Right off I-75 south of flint, even has fishing too.

I might be interested from northern mi. I could make a drive to climb a tree. I was on board until I realized what boyne said turkey season. I plan Pennsylvania trip may 4th for their opener.

Just read thru a few things. Looks like bows in a state park or recreational area is out.
And it's not an event if anyone is asking.. ;) View attachment 97954View attachment 97955
We have a thing our state wild life can issue called a “special use permit”. It’s usually not expensive (often free) and just requires a couple pieces of paperwork to be filled out for state approval. I recommend someone perhaps calling and inquiring if Michigan offers one such permit…. Not sure if you or @Horn would be the person(s) who was responsible for such…

I'm probably the guy for this. Thanks for the info, and your support!

If I pursue a special use would I just be asking to be allowed to shoot bows and climb trees? Willing to do my homework on this, just checking if as a group what we think we'd need/ want out of it.

Later this week I'll narrow down the suggestions and steer the thread towards making some decisions. I wanted to wait a week or so before getting into it too far so hopefully everyone had a chance to see the thread

I’m not a Michigander (cold weather, who does that lol) however if I can assist yall in anyway at all please let me know. Rooting for you guys to keep on growing the sport up there!
shoot, you've probably had a colder winter than us! I love 30 miles from lake Michigan and I bet we haven't had 2 inches of snow all year lol

What’s this snow you speak of? Lol

As far as the special use permit, in Florida, we can climb trees on public land year round. Shooting archery is a different story. Lucky for us, it’s small game season when we do our meet up so archery and firearms are permitted outside of the camp sites
