I did also .......they bust up easily if very dry. Went to the change purse idea for compact storage and easy opening.....already has a chain for attaching to some form of clip/pin.
The rubber band keeps them from busting open.
You "container" guys are making this a lot more complicated than it is. I've been using milkweed for over 30 years. Leave them in the pod, put a rubber band around it and add a clip to it so you can position it on your coat, tether, etc and access it with minimal movement. When deer are in your lap, you don't have the luxury of reaching for your pack, Molly loops or wherever.
When you leave them in the pod there's no lid to open or close or loose. Plus, a pristine floater straight from the pod will float better under ultra light wind conditions than one that has been stuffed into a container.
