Anybody use empty chapstick containers for milkweed? Fill, drill a hole in the top, glue the top on. I was able to stuff a whole pod in one tube using a cue tip. Twist to push milkweed out. Nice and compact. It works great!

At first I thought you were paying $8 for an empty chapstick tube...

Good idea though. All sorts of stuff you can use. I’ve got a rubber coin pouch and a rubber boat registration key chain float thingy. It all works.

I actually used an empty chapstick I had laying around. The waxy lip balm separates pretty easy with hot water.

I like that! Very minimalistic.
Mines a similar idea but I like how compact yours is.

Similarly, as far as size, you can get a dozen film canisters off eBay for about $3.

Empty Glue sticks work really nice too. Just need to soak in warm water for a bit to clean them up. Holds more than chapstick but same basic idea. Thx for the DIY

I bought the hunting public milkweed dispenser to support them and I thought it would be nice to slip on my bino strap as a reminder to always have and use. I left it in the truck several times last year.

I did also .......they bust up easily if very dry. Went to the change purse idea for compact storage and easy opening.....already has a chain for attaching to some form of clip/pin.
The rubber band keeps them from busting open.
You "container" guys are making this a lot more complicated than it is. I've been using milkweed for over 30 years. Leave them in the pod, put a rubber band around it and add a clip to it so you can position it on your coat, tether, etc and access it with minimal movement. When deer are in your lap, you don't have the luxury of reaching for your pack, Molly loops or wherever.
When you leave them in the pod there's no lid to open or close or loose. Plus, a pristine floater straight from the pod will float better under ultra light wind conditions than one that has been stuffed into a container.
