Most disappointing products you bought

I did about 30 miles and used superfeet after the first 8 miles. I couldn’t take the pain for another step. I do have flat feet and use the sf greens in all my boots. I know boots are subjective to individuals. I’ll take the 80 mile break in on the kennetreks over one mile in the crispi.
Crazy how differently boots and packs work for folks. I literally had no break in with my crispi's.

Hmmm, let's see.....most disappointing products.....I'll just go with most disappointing hunting-related purchases.....I tend to avoid being an 'early-adopter' with buying new products, instead letting others jump in, and then make my purchasing decisions based on their feedback and experiences.....(have avoided many of the disappointments I see on this list with that approach!)
  1. Preference points for elk in CO. Waste of $! AGREED
  2. Fixed position "Hawk" treestand. Tried to get spare parts - waste of time and $
  3. Bow sling - the fiddle factor was way too high
  4. Zeiss conquest binoculars - superb glass, kidney-bean effect and blackouts were insurmountable for my eyes
  5. XOP treestands - functioned as intended, just much heavier than advertised
  6. Having the trimmings from my first elk made into summer sausage - taste just like whitetail! (They use the same ingredients, and the sausage ends up tasting the same as whitetail sausage. I just get it turned into burger now - much better!)
  7. 20 years ago - tried a couple of bottles of scent - waste of time and $HAD IT WORK IN CORRECT CONDITIONS
  8. 20 years ago - rattling antlers - only resulted in negative responses from the animals where I hunt AWESOME IN CORRECT CONDITIONS
  9. 20 years ago - Ol'Man Grand Vision climbing treestand - got me up in a tree and I learned about being mobile, weighed like 27 pounds LOL
  10. 20 years ago - bear hunt over bait pile - arrowed a bear, not my cup of tea. (Hunt them over elk carcass or call them in now.)
  11. 20 years ago - Reading whitetail hunting magazines and how to kill mature bucks - reading those tactics and trying to compare private land, managed hunts to my land/deer situation was a total non sequitur.
  12. 20 years ago - Scentlok - SMH. Lmao true
  13. 20 years ago - spending my discretionary income on some of the items listed above instead of putting that money into the stock market. (Have spent the last two decades focusing on asset allocation, net worth, and percentage of income saved/invested....it has paid off!)

I just read through this and laughed. Many of the same experiences!! Seriously I’ve had rattling work but only during early November when I could see the deer (giants) hundreds yds away, coupled with a buck decoy in fields on the ground. Never had it work well otherwise. Scent same thing, drag lines across giant fields via vehicle so no human scent. The bedding areas don’t seem bothered by vehicles in fields.

I keep it so simple these days and try to only keep or buy stuff I’ll actually use. you waste a lot of money and effort trying to cut corners and cost. I drive a pick up truck and take vaca to hunt. I’m not using discount sh*t to keep me safe 20’ in a tree. I’m not sitting hours and hours hunting in a fold up 15$ chair. I’m not freezing my a** off with crappy clothing. I’m not hiking into public land with overweight crap. I could throw a list out to a new hunter that would cover any situation and cost some cash up front, but there’s not a situation they’d not conquer. Most of my gear is 15 years old, including socks and still going strong. I’ve recently sold some old stuff to purchase a new saddle and stand because of the great innovations. Shed a lot of LBS

Any scent product.
Any rattling product.
Any grunt call I've ever owned... Until the one I have now, which has brought two shooters into range for me.

What call do you have now?

75% percent humidity hip thrusting your way to 20 feet =‘s soaked!
That's DdRT or MRS, not SRT, which is the easiest method up besides maybe spurs or preset bolts. All the same....I agree with weldabeast that you can't get enough hip thrusting practice!

What’s this Ddrt and SRT you speak of?
@Weldabeast tell us more about this hip thrusting practice. Because I sweat getting out of the truck down here in our native Florida so any practice to reduce sweat sounds like fun to me lol

For me, it's the Tethrd Skeletor sticks. I'm pretty sure the sticks will be great.....but the process of getting them to a "usable" state has been less than enthralling. One came with a damaged button. Then they sent out replacement button bolts (originals were too short) and the lower standoffs have a design flaw that makes them prone to bending.

All of these issues have or are being fixed (new design standoffs with thicker walls and beveled bottom edge are on their way to me).

I just don't appreciated being turned into a "new product tester" nor having to bitch at them the amount required to get them to "make it right". Though I guess if I had done a bit more research on new product releases from Tethrd, I would have found out that this is a fairly common process with their new products.

Whole process just left a bad taste. Will be a bit more diligent in my research and selection of product vendors in the future as a result.

Agree. I put 2 on a tree and sold them the same day I got em.

Come on

Come on man those field and stream kayaks are the best
Ha. they Have their place for sure.
I was referring more to items like ;
dirt scent wafers , 1000g rubber boots that I froze in, polyester camo, trails end scent lure that smelled like apple cider mulling spices with a hint of urine, F&S backpack,” bow packages “ , nap expandable broadheads, all of this was recommended to me in the mid 00’s when I was getting Into bow hunting.
I actually have the dirt cover scent wafer things somewhere, I’ll gladly send them to you for kayak decor/ stealth….
I guarantee if you take them out of the container they will still smell of potent fake dirt

I finally dug it out. Primos Trophy Grunter. Cheap little call, but I've never had it freeze up on me, and it's worked on two different shooter bucks so far.

I gotta say i was really excited to try a few of a certain new companies prducts for transportation of sticks and stand. Attachment to stand and attached to saddle.
it was a total dud for me.
might work for someone else but i was very disappointed
I really tried and just couldn’t make it work.

6 in one, 1/2 dozen in the other.

With alot of stuff, I see it and think I can do equal or better by making it mysef. Sometimes, it fails horribly and other times I spend $$$ on stuff I could make for pennies.
